About the Role:
The 1st Shift Building Maintenance Technician I plays a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of manufacturing facilities within the non-durable goods sector. This position is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks to uphold the integrity of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components. The technician will respond promptly to maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and support continuous production. Collaboration with other maintenance team members and departments is essential to coordinate repairs and improvements while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Ultimately, this role contributes to a safe, functional, and compliant work environment that supports the company’s manufacturing objectives on the first shift schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Experience in building maintenance or a related technical field.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certification or vocational training in building maintenance or related disciplines.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in non-durable goods production.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Basic welding or carpentry skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.
- Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to identify root causes and implement timely repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and departments to coordinate repairs and minimize production disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities.
Skills:
The required skills enable the technician to effectively perform maintenance tasks by understanding and working with various building systems, ensuring operational continuity.
