Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, organizing, and delivering materials and components to support production operations. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, organized, mechanically inclined, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining accurate inventory and material records.
Essential Functions
Receiving & Inspection
· Receive incoming materials, equipment, and supplies; inspect shipments and verify quantities and information against Bills of Lading, invoices, purchase orders, work orders, and other records.
· Load and unload materials, equipment, supplies, and finished goods safely and efficiently.
· Identify and report damaged materials, shortages, and discrepancies, and coordinate resolution with suppliers and internal teams as needed.
· Record the receipt and movement of materials and equipment while maintaining accurate inventory and shipping supply records.
· Route received materials and supplies to the appropriate stockroom, department, or production area.
Inventory & Material Storage
· Verify part numbers, quantities, and material requirements before moving or delivering materials to production.
· Return unused materials, components, and tools to the appropriate locations and ensure proper identification and storage.
· Use computer systems to review work orders, access drawings, retrieve specifications, and update required records.
· Maintain accurate inventory records and promptly report inventory discrepancies or material shortages.
Production Material Support
· Pick, stage, and deliver materials, components, and finished goods to designated workstations based on production requirements, work orders, bills of materials, and standard operating procedures.
· Monitor production areas for material shortages and replenish materials as needed to prevent production delays.
· Assist production by ensuring required materials, components, and subassemblies are available when needed.
· Use hand tools, power tools, saws, and other manufacturing equipment as required to support material preparation and production activities.
Packaging
· Design and build customized packaging solutions, including wooden crates, boxes, pallets, and other protective packaging based on product requirements.
· Prepare materials, components, and finished goods for shipment according to customer requirements, work orders, and shipping instructions.
· Package products using appropriate containers, spacers, fillers, and protective materials to ensure safe transportation.
· Label shipments and applies required identification, handling instructions, and shipping documentation.
Shipping
· Examine outgoing shipments to confirm accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications prior to release.
· Prepare Bills of Lading, shipping records, and other documentation to ensure accurate shipment tracking and compliance.
· Determine appropriate shipping methods based on established procedures, delivery requirements, routes, and carrier guidelines.
· Assist with loading and unloading trucks using appropriate material-handling equipment.
Material Handling & Equipment
· Safely operate forklifts, tier-lift trucks, pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, cranes, hoists, and other material-handling equipment as authorized and trained.
· Perform required inspections of material-handling equipment before use and report any safety or equipment concerns immediately.
· Move materials, components, subassemblies, equipment, and finished goods safely throughout the facility using appropriate material-handling methods and equipment.
Safety & General Responsibilities
· Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and work instructions.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required.
· 3 to 5 years previous material handling experience in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment required.
· Expertise in material handling equipment, including operating tier-lift trucks, hand trucks, pallet lifters, carts, cranes, and other lifting devices to safely move materials.
· Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic manufacturing equipment.
· Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
· Knowledge in designing and building customized packaging solutions, including wooden crates, boxes, pallets, and other protective packaging based on product requirements.

Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb for extended periods.
· Ability to safely use ladders and scaffolding as required to perform job duties.
· Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
· Manual dexterity to safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, and other manufacturing equipment.
· Dexterity to operate tier-lift trucks, hand trucks, pallet lifters, carts, cranes, and other lifting devices.
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals such as paint, glue, oil, or cleaning agents, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
