Supplier Quality & Development Engineer
Employment Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

About the Role
BITZER Scroll is seeking a Supplier Quality & Development Engineer to strengthen supplier quality, drive continuous improvement, and ensure suppliers consistently meet our quality, delivery, and technical requirements.
In this hands-on role, you will partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and external suppliers to identify and resolve quality issues, improve manufacturing processes, develop supplier capabilities, and support new product launches and engineering changes.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working directly with suppliers and manufacturing teams and can translate quality data into practical process improvements.
What You'll Do
• Develop and implement supplier quality objectives aligned with company goals and quality standards.
• Lead supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
• Conduct supplier assessments, quality audits, and process evaluations for new and existing suppliers.
• Analyze supplier performance using SPC, process capability studies, Minitab, and other quality tools.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve supplier quality issues through structured root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Lead or coordinate 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, CAPA, and NCR activities.
• Work with suppliers to eliminate specification deviations and establish stable, capable processes.
• Evaluate supplier processes, inspection plans, testing requirements, and quality documentation.
• Support new product launches, engineering changes, and supplier implementation activities.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Purchasing to ensure supplier milestones, quality requirements, and deliverables are met.
• Monitor supplier quality performance and communicate significant issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to management.
• Develop and deliver quality training for supplier and subcontractor personnel.
• Support supplier qualification and development decisions based on quality performance and capability.
• Maintain accurate quality records, reports, and documentation.
• Participate in and lead cross-functional teams focused on resolving manufacturing and supplier quality issues.
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Manufacturing Quality, or a related engineering function.
• 3–5 years of experience conducting quality or supplier audits.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience/training.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
• Experience with SPC, Minitab, process capability, and statistical data analysis.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with machining, metal fabrication, and welding.
• Experience with pressure vessels or related manufacturing applications is preferred.
• Knowledge of AIAG quality processes and standards.
• Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with structured corrective-action methodologies.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%.

Work Environment
This position works in both a professional office and manufacturing environment. Regular interaction with production operations, suppliers, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams is required.
