Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer ensures internal and external customer quality specifications are understood and met through the application of diversified engineering principles and deployment of the overall quality department strategy focused on driving change throughout the organization.

First Key Responsibility: Quality systems, audits, and production readiness
Promote synergy between Quality and other departments to support company performance goals and participate as a member of the internal audit team.
Obtain findings from internal and external quality management system audits, perform root cause analysis, drive corrective actions, and identify continual improvement initiatives from stratified data.
Participate in new product development by assessing customer requirements and developing process tools such as inspection plans, FMEAs, control plans, and measurement system analyses to support production readiness.
Second Key Responsibility: Data analysis, corrective action, and built-in quality culture
Analyze process data, identify Lean Six Sigma opportunities, and manage implementation of corrective actions related to documented discrepancies and MRB process performance.
Evaluate department resource needs and submit proposals related to staffing, tools, equipment, and technology to improve business processes.
Drive a culture of building quality in by developing Lean Six Sigma capability, leading improvement methods, and helping others understand quality assurance versus quality control.
Non-essential Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as directed. Supports quality team and business objectives as needed.
Skills and Abilities:
Required education. BA or BS in Engineering or technical discipline required; appropriate work experience may be considered. GD&T knowledge.
Required experience. Experience with APQP, PFMEA, SPC, metrology, blueprints, control plans, and QMS certification systems such as ISO or AS9100. Five or more years in a manufacturing environment required. Deep drawn stamping experience preferred.
Required proficiencies. Strong fact-based problem solving, data analysis, process evaluation, workflow analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, error proofing, and metrology tool knowledge.
Required attributes. Able to write effectively, analyze issues systematically, support customer requirements, and build quality capability throughout the organization.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a manufacturing environment adjacent to the shop work environment and requires awareness of moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, high temperatures, and chemicals.
Physical Demands:
Ability to move throughout office and plant environments and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and manual manipulation may be required.
