Requirements:

Summary of Position Responsibilities:

The Process Piping Designer I supports the planning, design, modeling, and documentation of process piping systems for industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, commercial, and other complex facility projects. This position works closely with engineers, project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams to develop accurate, coordinated, and constructible design solutions that meet project objectives, client standards, applicable codes, and KAEKO quality requirements.

The Process Piping Designer I participates in all phases of project development, including conceptual design, detailed design, construction documentation, field verification, and construction support. Responsibilities include developing piping layouts, equipment arrangements, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and related engineering documentation while ensuring designs are technically sound, fully coordinated, and aligned with project schedules and budgets. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conceptualization, engineering design, analysis, specifications, calculations, and documentation of hardware and/or process gas, chemical supply systems.
  • Assist in the development of process piping system designs, layouts, and construction documents for chemical, utility, specialty gas, water treatment, wastewater, and industrial process systems.
  • Produce detailed plans, sections, elevations, piping layouts, isometric drawings, equipment arrangements, and installation details utilizing KAEKO standards and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), piping plans, and related engineering documentation.
  • Support the design and routing of process piping systems while considering constructability, accessibility, maintenance requirements, safety considerations, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and revise engineering drawings utilizing AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, and other applicable design software.
  • Assist with equipment layout development and coordination between process equipment, piping systems, structural elements, electrical systems, instrumentation, and architectural features.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary coordination efforts to ensure complete, accurate, and fully coordinated project deliverables.
  • Assist in the selection and specification of piping materials, valves, fittings, supports, instruments, and related system components.
  • Review project requirements, client standards, specifications, and applicable codes to support design compliance.
  • Support engineering calculations, material take-offs, equipment schedules, and design documentation activities.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, constructability reviews, and quality assurance/quality control processes.
  • Perform field investigations, site visits, facility assessments, and as-built verification activities to support project development.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, contractors, equipment vendors, and client representatives throughout project execution.
  • Assist with construction administration activities, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and supporting field issue resolution.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules, budgets, client requirements, and KAEKO standards.
  • Communicate project status, technical challenges, and design concerns proactively with project leadership.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge of process systems, piping design methodologies, and applicable industry standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the overall operations of the organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in process piping design, industrial facility design, manufacturing environments, semiconductor facilities, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Understanding of industrial process piping systems, utility distribution systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and process equipment layouts.
  • Knowledge of piping materials, fittings, valves, supports, and industry installation practices.
  • Understanding of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASME B31 series, IPC, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD required.
  • Experience with Revit, Plant 3D, Navisworks, or BIM modeling platforms preferred.
  • Basic understanding of engineering and construction documentation.
  • Ability to perform field walks and site investigations, including work within active industrial and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to work onsite as required to support project and client needs.
