Job Description

QA Manager (Game Industry)

Established in 2018, Sun Studio is a game developer on web platforms and mobile devices with more than 1 billion plays, a strategic partner of the world's leading web-games platforms such as: Facebook Instant Games, Game Distribution, Glance Gaming etc.

The team consists of 80+ members who are passionate about creating high-quality games that are accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We are looking for a QA Manager to lead and scale our QA function across multiple game platforms, including Instant Games, App Stores, Google Play, and Web-game platforms.

This role is responsible for managing both Manual QA and Automation QA teams, building QA processes, improving release quality, developing test platforms, and driving automation/AI testing initiatives. The ideal candidate should be strong in people management, cross-functional collaboration, project coordination, quality systems, and test automation strategy.

You will work closely with BOD, Tech Leads, Game Designers, Artists, Product/Game Leads, and other stakeholders to ensure our games are released faster, with higher quality and better scalability.

A. Key Responsibilities
  • QA Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow the QA team to ensure high product quality and continuous improvement.
  • Process and Quality Systems: Build QA processes, quality gates, test plans, regression suites, and release checklists.
  • Design processes tailored to different project types: new games, live games, feature updates, A/B tests, SDK updates, and store releases.
  • Project and Workload Management: Manage QA planning, workload allocation, and project priorities across multiple games and platforms. Ensure every important build has a clear test plan, test cases, test report, and release sign-off.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Tech, Game Design, Art, Product, and BOD to identify risks and improve product quality.
  • Surface quality risks early in the development cycle rather than only at the end of the process.
  • Test Platform Development: Research and implement test platforms for multi-platform game testing, including device farms, compatibility testing, build distribution, test case management, bug tracking, and test reporting dashboards.
  • Automation and AI Testing: Build automation testing strategy and integrate AI to cover 30–50% of suitable test cases. Define what to automate versus keep manual or exploratory, and partner with Tech and AI teams to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Quality Metrics: Define and monitor QA metrics, including bug rate, escaped bugs, test coverage, productivity, workload, and release quality.
  • Team Performance Management: Drive QA team performance and support team members’ growth through clear development and career progression paths.
B. Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in QA/QC, including experience leading QA teams in game studios, mobile apps, web platforms, or product companies.
  • Strong experience in building and improving QA processes, test plans, regression testing, release flows, and bug tracking systems.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop QA teams, with strong people management and performance management skills.
  • Solid understanding of mobile, web, and game testing, including gameplay, ads, IAP, analytics, performance, and automation testing concepts.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Tech, Game Design, Art, and stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to use QA metrics to improve product quality and team efficiency.
  • AI-first mindset — using AI to generate test cases, analyze bugs, or support automation.
Nice to have:
  • Previous experience as a QA Lead/Manager in a game studio
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, device farms, and QA management platforms
  • Familiarity with Firebase, AppsFlyer/Adjust, AdMob/AppLovin, or similar game/mobile ecosystems
