Part-Time Classroom Support Worker 3

Compensation: $28.67/ hour plus vacation pay; 2.5% in lieu of benefits
Location: Parkhill, ON
Schedule: 16-32 hrs/week; varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Summary of Roles & Responsibilities:
- Working with children and youth in an out-of-home emergency/urgency stabilisation setting
- Provide support focused on the educational needs of students in the on-site Section 23 classroom and track areas for improvement and achievement toward transition goals, while also facilitating daily routines and programming as needed.
- Act as an advocate for students and participate in team meetings regarding progress, needs, and supports.
- Maintain open communication between school personnel and treatment staff members.
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants, remain calm and focused in crises while utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills.
- Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Child & Youth Worker (CYC) or Social Service Worker (SSW) - or an equivalent Human Services program.
- Please Note: Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Developmental Services Worker (DSW) certifications do not meet the educational requirements for this position.
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support
- Reliable with a demonstrated commitment to being a dependable member of a team
- Understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job
- Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
- Strong leadership, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with the team, and independently as necessary
- Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional and personal boundaries
- Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets
Requirements:
- Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record
- Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Broad Record Check
- Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunisations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred
