Description:

Reporting to the VP of Community Impact, the Marketing & Communications Manager plays a key role in shaping and sharing the story of the NoCo Foundation and its donors during an exciting period of growth and momentum. This role is ideal for a strategic communicator who is equally energized by rolling up their sleeves and executing on the details that bring a brand to life.

The Marketing & Communications Manager leads compelling storytelling about the Foundation’s impact, elevating its community leadership work and advancing its position as the “go-to” institution addressing critical challenges in Northern Colorado. In the near term, this role will help launch new strategic communications efforts, including strengthening brand storytelling, building and monitoring communications and marketing metrics, updating and enhancing the website, expanding social media strategy, and developing branded templates (PowerPoint, email, and other collateral).

This position works collaboratively and proactively across the organization to advance key priorities and strategies, ensuring consistency and clarity in how the Foundation communicates internally and externally

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that advances the Foundation’s mission, strengthens its brand, increases visibility, and supports organizational growth.
  • Leads day-to-day execution of marketing and communications efforts, personally developing communications materials and campaigns while ensuring all content advances organizational goals, strengthens the Foundation’s brand, and engages target audiences.
  • Leads the Foundation’s brand storytelling strategy, identifying and elevating compelling stories, data, and community impact to strengthen awareness, engagement, and support across audiences.
  • Develops and executes an integrated media relations strategy, including earned, paid, and owned media; editorial content; advertising campaigns; press releases; podcast strategy; and thought leadership opportunities that position the Foundation as a trusted regional leader.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to elevate the Foundation’s voice and influence, securing speaking engagements, media placements, partnerships, and other external visibility opportunities.
  • Partners proactively with staff, project leads, and leadership to identify communications opportunities, translate organizational priorities into effective messaging, and ensure alignment across initiatives and audiences.
  • Creates and implements audience-centered digital engagement strategies, including social media, email marketing, and emerging communications channels, to deepen engagement and expand reach.
  • Develops and manages an editorial and content calendar that aligns communications activities with organizational priorities, campaigns, programs, and key community initiatives.
  • Leads the strategic evolution of the Foundation’s website, working with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure the site reflects the Foundation’s priorities, communicates impact effectively, and drives engagement and action.
  • Develops and implements a visual storytelling strategy, including photography and video content, to document community impact, strengthen brand awareness, and support organizational objectives.
  • Monitors and evaluates communications performance, using data and audience insights to refine strategies, improve effectiveness, and inform future marketing and communications investments.
  • Develops and implements an internal and external brand ambassador program that equips staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners to champion the Foundation’s mission and impact.
  • Monitors marketing and communications trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, recommending and implementing innovations that strengthen the Foundation’s effectiveness and reach.
Requirements:

Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Strategic thinker who can translate organizational priorities and community impact into effective marketing and communications strategies.
  • Exceptional storyteller with strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated graphic design and visual communications expertise, including the ability to independently create professional-quality presentations, reports, social media graphics, email campaigns, and other branded collateral using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Experience developing and managing content across multiple channels, including websites, email marketing, social media, media relations, and digital campaigns.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues, community partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, adaptability, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience directing and collaborating with external creative partners, including designers, web developers, photographers, videographers, and content creators.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, social media platforms, and project management tools.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and a passion for the Foundation's mission, values, and the well-being of Northern Colorado communities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in a standard office environment with no hybrid option.
  • Occasional, localized travel for community events and meetings is required.
  • Rarely, non-standard hours are required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The expected hiring range for this position is $62,000 - $72,000, depending on experience.
