San Diego Orthopaedic Institute is a leading surgical group comprised of thirteen physicians, 3 Physician Assistants and over 100 dedicated employees. We specialize in providing comprehensive orthopaedic medical care, including surgical procedures, physical and occupational therapy, as well as radiology and diagnostic MRI services.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team at San Diego Orthopaedic Institute. In this role, you will be essential in ensuring accurate billing processes and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Your contributions will directly support our mission to provide exceptional orthopaedic care to our patients. At this time we are looking for someone to assist working accounts receivable, collection, etc.

• Process and submit medical billing claims accurately and timely using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
• Follow up on A/R's.
• Review, follow up and process appeals on Denied and/or Rejected claims.
• Review patient records to ensure all necessary documentation is complete for billing purposes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance requirements.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their bills, payment options, and insurance coverage.

This is a full-time position, Monday thru Friday with 8 hour shifts. Benefits include 401(k), Employer Profit Share, Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, Flexible spending account, Life insurance and paid time off.

• Proven experience in medical billing within a healthcare setting, preferably in orthopaedics.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 & ICD-9 coding, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical collection processes and insurance verification procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
• Experience with Modernizing Medicine (ModMed) EMR or Practice Management is a plus.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
