Job Title: Product Market Manager Department: Pre Sales
Reports To: Pre Sales Manager Division: Sales & Marketing
Summary: Position serves as the overall subject matter expert for Thermoformer and Traysealer product lines(s). It is responsible for providing technical expertise, developing product line strategies, conducting market research, and guiding the business on the financial performance of the product(s). Position will conduct market research and analysis associated with Thermoformer and Traysealer product(s); assess their success against plan, coordinate regularly with sales, sales administration, engineering and manufacturing functions on design and product specification changes as needed; and lead projects to ensure timely and effective completion of sales and marketing product objectives. The Product Market Manager will coordinate an annual business planning process and monitor sales and profitability of the product lines.
Time Utilization: This position will travel up to 30% of the time. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate internal and external customer schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Multivac’s main point of technical reference regarding Thermoformers,Traysealers and related equipment.
- Proactively research product line dynamics (competition, pricing, regulations, customer needs, business trends, etc.); develop detailed knowledge and insight about each market segment; and apply this knowledge to drive short and long term strategies for product success.
- Assist in developing short and long term strategies for assigned product line(s) and create annual marketing plan.
- Assist with developing product line(s) budget that aligns with annual marketing plan
- Monitor sales and profitability of product line(s) relative to the annual budget through SAP/CRM and P&L review. Help drive necessary adjustments throughout the year to achieve goals.
- Collaborate cross functionally to help resolve issues on complicated, first time product line applications and new product capabilities.
- Partner with global headquarters on assigned product line(s) to resolve issues, share market intelligence, and champion improvements/innovation needed for the Canadian market demands.
- Create new product launch plan including, technical specs, training guidelines, sales communication and selling materials.
- Assist with developing promotional activities for product line(s) annual marketing plan including target market campaigns, promotional activities, trade shows, advertising campaigns, new product introductions, brochures, data sheets, training materials, etc.
- Develop and execute tools and programs to assist sales in effective selling of product line(s) to reach new customers and differentiate from competition.
- Train Sales staff on product line(s) information required for effective consultative selling.
- Partner with Sales Professionals to assess production facilities, uncover customer needs, and develop optimized packaging solutions that strengthen sales positioning.
- Analyse and recommend appropriate market pricing. Help coordinate stock machine program.
- Engage in trade show planning and execution as it relates to assigned product line(s) and participate in shows when appropriate.
- Write technical communications (articles, white papers, etc.) as part of a global marketing communication and PR plan.
- Maintain accuracy of communication materials (brochures, website, etc.) and initiate updates as needed.
- Travel as needed to participate in customer visits with the sales team, industry events, and meetings with industry professionals to gain knowledge and insight for assigned product line(s).
- Develop close working relationships and collaboration across the organization, both domestic and international, with key functional groups, demonstrating product line leadership and highly effective interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate with Engineering to ensure product line is compliant with regulatory guidelines.
- Manage business expenses with focus on cost containment and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, business administration or related field and seven years of experience in capital equipment or related consumables sales, marketing, product management, or related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively convey information in written form to a broad audience. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Power Point. Working knowledge of SAP CRM preferred.
Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates and Licenses: Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory requirements.
