Director of Business Development

This role is focused on driving strategic growth across the western United States and select regions of Canada within the professional beauty industry. You will work closely with distributor partners, field sales teams, salons, and internal stakeholders to strengthen brand presence and accelerate commercial performance. Acting as both a strategic partner and hands-on business driver, you will identify growth opportunities, support salon expansion, and help execute regional initiatives. The position requires a strong blend of relationship-building, commercial insight, and operational execution. You will operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where autonomy, ownership, and proactive thinking are essential. This is a high-impact role for someone passionate about building brands and scaling business through strong partnerships.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and driving business development initiatives across assigned territories through distributor and salon partnerships. You will play a key role in expanding brand presence, improving performance, and enabling long-term regional growth.

  • Support business development strategies across the western U.S. and select Canadian regions through distributor networks
  • Partner with distributor leadership and field sales teams to drive salon growth and commercial performance
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to increase brand visibility and market penetration within existing territories
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributor partners, salon owners, and field sales representatives
  • Collaborate with internal teams including sales, education, marketing, and operations to align execution and strategy
  • Analyze regional performance data, market trends, and competitive activity to support business planning
  • Support strategic salon partnerships, key account development, and regional expansion initiatives
  • Represent the organization at industry events, distributor meetings, education sessions, and salon visits
  • Support execution of product launches, promotional campaigns, and regional initiatives
  • Maintain consistent communication with external partners to ensure alignment and execution of business objectives
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in business development or field leadership within the professional beauty or salon industry, along with a proven ability to grow business through distributor relationships.

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, account management, or field leadership within the professional beauty industry
  • Strong understanding of salon distribution models and the professional beauty ecosystem
  • Proven track record of driving business growth through distributor and partner relationships
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-informed mindset
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and partners
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and execution capability
  • Experience working closely with distributor sales teams and salon partners preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (approximately 50% or more) across the territory
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
