We are seeking a Ambulatory Surgery Center Nurse Manager to join their dynamic team in Colorado Springs, CO.

The ASC Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the ambulatory surgery center, with a primary focus on the management of operating room functions and first-line supervision of ASC clinical staff. Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, this role serves as the key operational leader on the floor, ensuring that surgical cases are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and best clinical practice. The ASC Nurse Manager is vested with independent decision-making authority within their scope of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the day-to-day clinical operations of the ASC nursing department, ensuring accountability across all nursing and administrative functions, under the guidance of the Director of Nursing.
  • Manages daily OR scheduling and case coordination, collaborating with physicians, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to ensure cases are properly prepared, operating rooms are turned over efficiently, and the surgical schedule is executed on time.
  • Oversees patient flow management from pre-operative intake through PACU discharge, ensuring the safe and timely progression of each patient through the surgical continuum of care
  • Makes real-time daily staffing decisions including assignment management, call-in coverage, and case-based resource allocation to ensure appropriate clinical staffing for all scheduled and add-on surgical cases.
  • Leads daily pre-operative safety huddles or briefings, ensuring all team members are aligned on the surgical schedule, patient-specific considerations, and safety protocols prior to the start of each operative day.
  • Ensures proper nursing documentation and conducts regular chart audits.
  • Participates in patient assessments, care plan development and implementation, and discharge planning.
  • Serves as the direct supervisor for ASC clinical staff, providing first-line leadership, development, and management in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Manages daily staff assignments, scheduling, training, and coaching of direct reports in coordination with the Director of Nursing. May also assist with assessment and training for other department staff as requested.
  • Completes performance evaluations and engages with the Director of Nursing to initiate personnel actions, such as merit increases, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Coordinates with the Director of Nursing, VP of Operations, Medical Director, and physicians concerning the performance of ASC staff.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for staff concerns, interpersonal conflicts, and daily employee relations matters, addressing issues promptly and escalating to the Director of Nursing as appropriate.
  • Conducts department meetings and monthly 1:1 meetings with individual department staff.
  • Creates collaborative relationships within the center and throughout the organization.
  • Enhances communications and collaboration with medical staff throughout areas of responsibility.
  • Leads initiatives to improve staff, patient, and physician satisfaction, and is accountable for achieving satisfaction benchmarks across areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures quality patient care aligned with evidence-based best practices.
  • Supports an integrated Quality Improvement process in collaboration with the Quality and Compliance team, inclusive of both nursing and medicine.
  • Monitors and enforces sterile technique and infection prevention standards within the OR suite, including compliance with instrument sterilization processes, traffic control, and aseptic practices in alignment with CMS requirements.
  • Investigates and documents clinical incidents, near misses, and adverse patient events at the first-line level; escalates findings and corrective action recommendations to the Director of Nursing and the Quality and Compliance team in a timely manner.
  • Conducts and documents ongoing clinical competency validations for OR staff, including circulating nurses, scrub technologists, and PACU nurses; coordinates remediation plans for staff not meeting required competency standards.
  • Ensures ASC operations are fiscally sound and compliant with CDPHE regulatory standards.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, collaborating with other departments to ensure services and activities are maintained to meet patient needs.
  • Coordinates and delivers education and training programs in collaboration with the Director of Nursing to ensure appropriate knowledge and competence of all ASC functions performed within the ASC. Supports oversight and development of online education, outsourced education and live training programs.
  • Identifies and introduces relevant trends, research, and key concepts within clinical service area when appropriate.
  • Reviews literature to determine current nursing staff practice trends.
  • Attends ASC-related trainings and conferences as requested.
  • Contributes to and implements departmental strategic plans developed in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, including staffing, fiscal management, goals and objectives.
  • Drives operational efficiency across the ASC through clinical productivity benchmarks, with attention to nursing productivity and resource utilization.
  • Manages contracted vendor services and equipment maintenance.
  • Serves as an active member on relevant committees upon request.
  • May provide direct patient care as a circulating nurse or in other clinical capacities when staffing requirements necessitate, maintaining active clinical competency in perioperative nursing practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, values, and strategies of CPIhealth.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred or related field.
  • At least 1-5 years of healthcare management experience preferred.
  • At least 1-5 years of education and training, development and presentation preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with direct patient care experience.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, judgment, communication and analytical skills; sometimes under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task and perform multiple priorities.
  • Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, management and visitors
  • Ability to make independent decisions and assume responsibility for same
  • Abe to think conceptually and apply concepts in a practical application; able to operationalize the vision.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems; ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce acceptable solutions.
  • Ability to generate new programs and strategies.
  • Ability to promote favorable image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public.
  • Ability to travel between local clinics as required.

Salary: $92,000-$110,000 based on experience
