Drafter

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Drafter based in United States.

This is a hands-on drafting opportunity supporting complex engineering and government-focused projects in a collaborative technical environment.
You will create detailed drawings, assemblies, schematics, and layouts that translate engineering concepts into accurate working designs.
The role requires close collaboration with engineers, designers, vendors, and other technical stakeholders to interpret requirements and resolve design challenges.
You’ll work with computer-assisted drafting tools, technical documentation, electronic and structural schematics, and engineering specifications.
Attention to detail is essential, particularly when working with dimensions, tolerances, configurations, and government requirements.
The position is initially offered on a casual basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time opportunity.
It is well suited to a technically minded professional who enjoys precision, problem-solving, and contributing to mission-critical work.

Accountabilities:
  • Draft detailed and assembly drawings for design components using computer-assisted drafting equipment, software, and standard drafting techniques.
  • Work closely with engineers to interpret design concepts, clarify requirements, and produce accurate detailed working drawings.
  • Locate relevant project files within database libraries, load required programs, and maintain records of completed drafting work.
  • Review electronic, electrical, and structural schematics and supporting documentation to determine and verify configurations, dimensions, tolerances, and other drafting specifications.
  • Compare logic-element configurations against engineering schematics, perform calculations, and modify or redesign elements as required.
  • Review work orders, procedural manuals, and blueprints to understand customer requirements and ensure designs meet applicable specifications.
  • Collaborate with vendors, engineers, design staff, and assemblers to resolve technical issues and make necessary design modifications.
  • Generate computer-based diagrams and final layout designs for layered photo masks and photo plotting applications.
  • Develop proposal schematics in accordance with applicable government requirements and consult with key stakeholders regarding proposed changes.
  • Contribute to a range of drafting and design activities while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established procedures.
Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent related professional experience.
  • 4–9 years of relevant drafting, design, engineering support, or related technical experience.
  • Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience using computer-assisted drafting tools and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to understand and verify dimensions, tolerances, configurations, and other technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to reviewing and modifying designs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, vendors, assemblers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when producing technical drawings and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while following procedural manuals, work orders, customer requirements, and government standards.
  • Comfortable working in an office environment and performing the physical activities required for the position, including extended periods of sitting or standing, walking between buildings, and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a role that is initially casual, with potential for full-time employment.
Benefits:
  • Employment type: Casual position with potential to become full time.
  • Work arrangement: Remote within the United States.
  • Compensation: Stated pay band of $21.51–$32.28 USD per year as provided in the original posting; this figure appears inconsistent with the role and may warrant verification with the hiring team.
  • Opportunity to contribute to technically complex projects supporting government missions.
  • Opportunity to work alongside engineering, design, and technical professionals.
  • Security-cleared environment with the opportunity to obtain an active Secret clearance.
  • No travel required, with the original posting indicating 0% travel.
