We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and organized Activity Director to lead our Life Enrichment Program and help make every day special for our residents.
Position SummaryThe Activity Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing engaging activities that promote residents' physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive well-being. This role creates opportunities for residents to remain active, connected, and fulfilled while fostering a positive and vibrant community atmosphere.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and facilitate a monthly activities calendar.
- Lead and participate in resident activities, outings, events, and special celebrations.
- Assess resident interests, abilities, and needs to develop meaningful programming.
- Coordinate volunteer programs and community involvement opportunities.
- Maintain activity documentation and participation records.
- Work collaboratively with nursing, caregiving, dietary, and administrative teams.
- Assist with resident orientation and encourage participation in community life.
- Decorate and prepare common areas for holidays, special events, and seasonal activities.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics for community outings as needed.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Previous experience in activities, recreation, senior living, healthcare, or a related field preferred.
- Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic personality.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Compassion for older adults, including those living with dementia.
- Proficient with computers and basic office software.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.

Requirements: Minimum Requirements- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (if transporting residents or driving company vehicles).
- Ability to pass required caregiver background check and pre-employment screenings.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with activity setup, decorations, and supplies.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Activities Programming, Gerontology, Social Work, Education, Marketing, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in assisted living, memory care, long-term care, healthcare, hospitality, recreation, or event planning.
- Experience working with older adults, including residents with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
- Knowledge of person-centered care and dementia-friendly programming.
- Experience coordinating volunteers, community partnerships, and special events.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, social media, and electronic documentation systems.
- Creative and enthusiastic personality.
- Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to motivate residents to participate in activities.
- Ability to adapt activities for various physical and cognitive abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with residents, families, staff, and community members.
- Ability to plan and manage an activities budget.
