This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on clinical experience with strategic risk management to strengthen patient safety across healthcare operations. Working closely with clinicians, hospital partners, and internal stakeholders, you will help identify trends in clinical events and translate them into actionable improvements. The position blends analytical work, case review, and cross-functional collaboration, making it ideal for a clinically experienced professional ready to expand into enterprise risk strategy. You will support claims reporting, peer review processes, and patient safety initiatives at a systems level. This is a remote or hybrid role with occasional travel and strong exposure to healthcare risk operations and malpractice frameworks.
- Manage clinical event intake processes, including SAFE hotline reports, near misses, and adverse events, ensuring accurate documentation and coding for peer review and reporting purposes.
- Support claims reporting activities by preparing and submitting documentation to malpractice carriers in a timely and compliant manner.
- Maintain and manage risk management systems and databases, ensuring data accuracy, updates, and integrity across platforms such as Origami and related tools.
- Analyze clinical and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for patient safety improvement, producing clear reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Coordinate peer review activities, including medical records retrieval and support for case preparation for patient advocacy and review committees.
- Collaborate with clinicians, hospital partners, and internal teams to support risk mitigation initiatives and provide guidance on event reporting processes.
- Assist with educational initiatives and training coordination in partnership with learning and development teams and external stakeholders.
This role requires a clinically grounded professional with strong nursing experience and the ability to apply analytical thinking to healthcare risk management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working with sensitive information in a regulated environment.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with 2–5 years of recent bedside clinical experience.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical workflows, and patient safety principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across clinical and administrative stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with data and reporting tools.
- Experience or exposure to peer review, medical records coordination, claims, or risk management processes is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with malpractice reporting and risk management platforms (e.g., Clarity, Candello, or similar) is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with interest in progressing into senior-level healthcare risk management roles.
