Number of Positions: 2 openings. We need to divide the responsibilities to include research studies on going work, new collaborative projects, and more focus work on grants and funding seeking.
Hours per Week: 20 hrs/1 student

Percentage of time that could be remote (0-100%): 100% of the hours of the position will be performed remotely. Work will include some weekly synchronized meetings, but will mostly consist on independent work towards specific goals regarding scholarship and grant/funding seeking work.
Duties involve supporting ongoing research projects and grant/funding seeking from the institute that relate to mental health and social justice for the Latinx/e community. Examples of tasks include literature review, IRB documentation, data collection, data analysis, and dissemination of the findings as available depending on the stage of the study, and support with grant writing & funding seeking strategies.

Method to assess remote work: Assessment will take place through weekly meetings with supervisor and evidence of work submitted weekly related to established goals. Outcomes are to celebrate, support, share resources, and amplify voices of Latinx people through research, as well as supporting grant seeking and other funding to support the work of the institute. Students will log their hours and submit biweekly reports of their activities at the end of each pay period.

The institute outcomes that we are looking form is to develop and sustain a research agenda, support and engage with collaborative projects with our partners, and develop grants and fund raising strategies to support the sustainability of the institute and dissemination of the institute's accomplishments.

Job Description

  • Work with the Institutes executive board to establish, promote, and grow the Latinx Mental Health and Social Justice Institute in support of the Latinx community through research initiatives.
  • Support the work towards sustainability of the institute through grant writing and fund seeking strategies.
  • Tasks include: weekly meetings with supervisor (1 hour), weekly working meetings with Institutes research team (1-2 hours), literature review (5 10 hours), search for resources and dissemination outlets (journals, conference presentations, etc.) (2 4), and engage on institutes projects/initiatives related research and grants as they are developed (5 10 hours).
  • Support fund raising initiatives and novice scholarship ideas as the creation of an academic journal (5 10). Activities will vary depending on the progress in the current research project(s) and grant seeking options.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have strong interest on and basic understanding of the Latinx/e community, as well as interest on research, scholarship, & grant writing/fund raising activities.
  • Must be committed to working towards the Latine/x community well-being particularly related to mental health and social justice.
  • We are looking for individuals who are passionate about research, organized, skillful in academic writing (APA format), are familiar and interested in learning more about research and grant seeking, and able to take initiative in meeting the goals of the institute.
  • Prior research and grant writing/fund seeking experience are preferred.
  • Spanish proficiency is not required but it will be valued.
  • Task will be assignment according to the institute priorities and needs, and divided according to availability, skills, and prior experience.
