Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Licensed 1st Grade Boiler Operator / Stationary Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of boilers, mechanical equipment, and facility systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems in an industrial environment.

Pay Rate: $36.00 - $38.00 per hour (DOE)
Job Type: Direct Hire

Required: Must possess a valid 1st Grade Stationary Engineer License issued by the City of Houston.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain boilers and associated mechanical systems.
  • Ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor system performance and respond to operational issues as needed.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and identify root causes of equipment malfunctions.
  • Repair, replace, and adjust mechanical components to restore equipment functionality.
  • Utilize technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and engineering specifications to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose equipment issues through observation, testing, and use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Dismantle machinery and replace defective components using hand and power tools.
  • Inspect and measure parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools.
  • Align and adjust equipment and control systems to maintain operational performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
  • Monitor parts and supply inventory levels and coordinate replenishment as needed.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and communicate equipment status, repairs, and ongoing concerns to management and team members.
  • Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication regarding equipment conditions and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and facility safety procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry standards and technical advancements through training and professional development.
Qualifications
Required
  • Valid 1st Grade Stationary Engineer License issued by the City of Houston.
  • Experience operating and maintaining industrial boilers and mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills involving industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, healthcare, or commercial facilities.
  • Welding, fabrication, or machine shop experience.
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Additional industrial maintenance certifications.
