Job Description
The Youth & Family Educator is responsible for planning and facilitating engaging educational experiences that support youth development, academic enrichment, leadership, and workforce readiness. This role delivers interactive instruction through workshops, group activities, project-based learning, and community engagement initiatives designed to prepare participants for success in school, careers, and life.
Working collaboratively with the Youth & Family Services team, the Educator delivers programming centered around OIC's three core pillars:
• Positive Youth Development
• STEAM Exploration
• Career & Workforce Readiness
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic facilitator who can build meaningful relationships with youth, create engaging learning experiences, and foster a safe, inclusive environment where every participant feels empowered to succeed.
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Youth Development
• Facilitate engaging workshops that promote leadership, communication, teamwork, financial literacy, healthy decision-making, and personal growth.
• Deliver curriculum focused on Positive Youth Development, STEAM exploration, career awareness, and workforce readiness.
• Create interactive, student-centered learning environments that encourage participation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
• Incorporate hands-on learning experiences, project-based activities, and career exploration into instructional programming.
• Support participants in developing confidence, goal-setting skills, professionalism, and workplace readiness.
Program Delivery
• Collaborate with Youth Workforce Navigators and program staff to ensure seamless participant support and successful program outcomes.
• Coordinate educational activities, special projects, field experiences, and youth engagement events.
• Adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse learning styles and developmental needs of participants.
• Encourage consistent participation, engagement, and positive youth development throughout the program.
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate attendance records, participant documentation, and program reports.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and program standards.
• Assist with participant recruitment, outreach, and retention efforts.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Youth Development, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Two (2) years of experience facilitating educational, youth development, after-school, or community-based programs.
• Experience teaching, training, mentoring, or facilitating workshops for youth or young adults.
• Strong classroom management and group facilitation skills.
• Experience incorporating workforce readiness, leadership development, STEAM, or life skills programming is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage youth from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Passion for youth development and OIC of South Florida's mission.
Additional Requirements
• Ability to travel throughout Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
• Reliable transportation.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for program activities and special events.
• Successful completion of a background investigation.
