Job Description
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment. This position performs routine cleaning, deep cleaning, housekeeping, and workplace organization activities throughout production, warehouse, laboratory, and office areas. The Janitor plays a key role in supporting safety, operational efficiency, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives by ensuring work areas remain clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards and clutter.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facility and Production Area Cleaning
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, office, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
- Deep clean production equipment exteriors, workstations, fixtures, carts, shelving, and storage areas as assigned.
- Remove dust, debris, and material buildup from designated work areas while following safety procedures.
- Clean walls, doors, windows, guardrails, and other facility surfaces.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to designated collection areas.
- Assist with housekeeping efforts in production spaces to maintain a professional and safe work environment.
Organization and Workplace Improvement
- Organize tools, equipment, supplies, storage areas, and workspaces to improve efficiency and housekeeping standards.
- Remove unnecessary materials, scrap, and clutter from work areas in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist departments with workstation organization, inventory storage, and housekeeping projects.
Facility Support
- Replenish restroom, break room, and janitorial supplies.
- Assist with facility setup, teardown, and cleanup activities.
- Operate floor scrubbers, vacuums, pressure washers, and other cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with seasonal cleaning and special facility projects.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain compliance with housekeeping, environmental, and safety standards.
- Properly handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals according to Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Report unsafe conditions, spills, damaged equipment, and housekeeping deficiencies promptly.
- Support safety initiatives by helping maintain clean aisles, exits, emergency equipment access, and work areas.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace cleanliness and organization.
- Reliable attendance and positive work ethic.
Preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, industrial, or custodial environment.
- Experience operating floor scrubbers, pressure washers, or industrial cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling and industrial housekeeping practices.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Move cleaning equipment, carts, supplies, and materials throughout the facility.
- Ability to perform physically demanding cleaning and organizational tasks for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing production floors, laboratories, warehouses, offices, and outdoor areas.
- Exposure to dust, noise, machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated by work area requirements.

- Ability to maintain high housekeeping standards in industrial environments.

- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.

Typical Daily Activities
- Sweeping and scrubbing production floors.
- Deep cleaning work cells and equipment exteriors.
- Organizing storage racks, shelves, and supply areas.
- Removing scrap, debris, and non-value-added materials.
- Supporting 5S events and workplace improvement projects.
- Restocking facility supplies.
- Assisting with facility-wide housekeeping initiatives and special cleaning projects.
Required: Compliant with the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status (ITAR defines "U.S. Person" as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident).
