This role plays a key part in supporting patients as they navigate the financial and insurance aspects of their care journey. You will work at the intersection of healthcare, customer service, and revenue cycle operations, helping ensure patients understand their coverage, financial responsibilities, and available assistance programs. The position involves guiding individuals through complex insurance and eligibility processes with clarity, empathy, and accuracy. You will assess financial situations, support applications for assistance programs, and help establish payment arrangements when needed. Working closely with clinical and administrative teams, you will help ensure financial barriers do not delay care or treatment. This is a fast-paced, service-driven environment where precision, communication, and compassion directly impact patient experience and access to care.

Accountabilities:
  • Support patients across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical care settings by explaining insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibilities in a clear and accessible way.
  • Assess patient financial situations and determine eligibility for government and non-government assistance programs, including Medicaid, charity care, and other financial support options.
  • Guide patients through financial assistance applications, collecting required documentation and ensuring completeness and accuracy of submissions.
  • Create patient cost estimates, collect deposits, and establish structured payment plans aligned with organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, revenue cycle staff, and administrative leadership to support discharge planning and continuity of care when financial concerns arise.
  • Maintain accurate records across multiple systems while ensuring timely updates, documentation integrity, and compliance with internal processes.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service while managing sensitive financial conversations with professionalism and empathy.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional experience in healthcare, finance, or customer service strongly preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a customer service or healthcare-related environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to explain complex financial or insurance concepts clearly.
  • Comfortable working with computer systems including Windows, Excel, and web-based platforms for documentation and reporting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance processes, or revenue cycle functions is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
  • High level of empathy, professionalism, and customer service orientation when working with patients in sensitive situations.
Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with significant employer contribution.
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and 11 paid holidays.
  • Retirement plans with employer contributions, including state and alternative retirement options.
  • Remote work flexibility with a structured full-time schedule.
  • Access to employee support resources and wellness programs.
  • Opportunities to gain experience in a leading academic healthcare environment with strong career development pathways.
