Data Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineer based in India.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers business intelligence and reporting. You will design robust ETL/ELT pipelines and develop high-performance SQL solutions across complex datasets. Working closely with architects, analysts, data scientists, and actuaries, you will translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. The role combines hands-on engineering with data quality, warehouse optimization, and cloud cost efficiency. You will work extensively with Google Cloud technologies while contributing to evolving data models and warehouse architecture. This is a full-time, fully remote opportunity with dedicated collaboration hours aligned to US-based teams.

Accountabilities:
  • Build, optimize, and monitor reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer.

  • Develop high-performance SQL scripts for complex transformations while maintaining data accuracy across multiple datasets.

  • Contribute to the design and refinement of Star and Snowflake data models to support changing business requirements.

  • Identify and resolve pipeline and query performance bottlenecks, balancing execution speed with cloud cost efficiency.

  • Translate business concepts and requirements into technical data specifications in collaboration with analysts, data scientists, actuaries, and other stakeholders.

  • Participate in peer code reviews and maintain clear technical documentation to support the long-term health of the data warehouse.

  • Support both new development initiatives and troubleshooting of existing or legacy data pipelines.

  • Apply strong data-quality practices to ensure reliable, consistent, and trustworthy business data.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, particularly with cloud-based data warehouses.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud technologies, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and IAM best practices.

  • Expert-level SQL skills, including window functions, recursive CTEs, query-plan analysis, DDL, and complex data transformations.

  • Solid understanding of data warehouse design, partitioning, clustering, and data warehouse lifecycle management.

  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to data integrity and clean, maintainable code.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Proven experience collaborating with US-based business teams.

  • Strong teamwork and stakeholder collaboration skills, with the ability to contribute effectively to shared objectives.

  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance new feature development and legacy-system troubleshooting.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining reliable communication and delivery.

  • A quiet, dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection with a minimum speed of 50 Mbps.

Benefits:
  • Salary: 1,575,000–2,205,000 INR annually, depending on experience, skills, knowledge, market alignment, and geographic location.

  • Work arrangement: Full-time and fully remote from India.

  • Working hours: 8 hours per day, excluding breaks.

  • Schedule flexibility: 4 core US-overlap hours from 7:30 PM–11:30 PM IST, plus 4 flexible hours.

  • Healthcare: Medical insurance and accident insurance.

  • Financial wellbeing: Retiral benefits.

  • Paid time off: 12 company-paid holidays, 2 flexible holidays, privilege/earned leave, and casual/sick leave.

  • Family support: Paid maternity and paternity leave.

  • Wellness: Company-supported wellness programs and weekly wellness events.

  • Work environment: An inclusive, collaborative remote culture with opportunities for ownership, professional development, and meaningful contributions.
