Clubhouse Mentor with Clubhouse Network

About the Community Organization:

The Clubhouse Network provides a safe, friendly, and engaging STEAM LAB for youth in underserved communities to access technology to create tech integrated projects. The Flagship Clubhouse is a free after-school creative learning lab for youth ages 13-18 that has a drop-in format. Youth can come to the clubhouse and express their creativity freely without judgment or the rigors of a daily schedule. The Flagship Clubhouse has access to technology equipment for youth to create projects based on their desires, and learn skills that they can put on a resume and start a career or college education with. Youth have access to equipment used for Digital Illustration, Music Production, Film, Photography, Pottery, Robotics, Engineering, 3D Printing, Sublimation Printing, Sewing & Embroidery, Virtual Reality and more. Clubhouse Mentors are in the space and help youth be creative. Youth and Mentors alike can enter the Clubhouse with no experience in tech and leave with an experience unlike any other. Organization Address: 2107 Washington St. Roxbury MA, 02119

Position Description:

Clubhouse Mentors spend their time in the Flagship Clubhouse space helping to inspire youth to be creative with tech. The majority of this role is focused on helping youth with creative ways to utilize technology and other equipment we have to create personalized passion projects.

Mentors do not have to be particularly skilled with tech, but need to have a desire to collaborate, learn from, and have fun with youth interested in tech. Mentors can also work on their own creative projects to help inspire youth. A great mentor is someone who is focused on building creative relationships with youth and is a great model for their future careers. Mentors are respectful, encouraging, and mainly inspire youth to be their best selves.

As our Clubhouse is an experiential learning space, Mentors and youth members often laugh and partner together to design, innovate and explore new and emerging technologies together, creating a friendly and creative learning environment. A Mentor will lead by example with helping keep equipment safe, and responsibly cleaning up after themselves during their time in the Clubhouse.
