You will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide radiation protection and EHS programs.
The role combines advanced health physics expertise with regulatory strategy, facility support, incident response, and operational leadership.
You will serve as a subject matter expert while partnering closely with Pharmacy Operations, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs teams.

This fully remote opportunity includes meaningful travel and the chance to shape radiation safety practices in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and oversee radiation protection audits, surveys, inspections, and compliance activities across pharmacy locations.
  • Perform complex radiation protection calculations, including shielding design, dose modeling, effluent assessments, and exposure mitigation strategies.
  • Provide enterprise-level technical guidance during radiation-related incidents, including spills, overexposures, and emergency response situations.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve radiation safety SOPs, policies, training programs, and EHS initiatives.
  • Manage radioactive materials license applications, amendments, renewals, decommissioning activities, and related regulatory documentation.
  • Serve as a key liaison with state and federal regulatory agencies, including Boards of Pharmacy, the NRC, and state radiation control programs.
  • Interpret evolving regulatory requirements, including USP <825>, <797>, and <800>, and support organizational compliance.
  • Provide technical consultation on cleanroom microbiology, HVAC systems, environmental monitoring, aseptic processing, and facility design.
  • Partner with Pharmacy Operations and Quality teams to support inspections, audits, compliance initiatives, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor Health Physicists and other radiation safety professionals while providing technical oversight and guidance.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of radiation safety data, including dosimetry, waste management, and incident information.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation of radiation safety activities and regulatory correspondence.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings advanced health physics expertise, experience managing multi-site radiation safety programs, and a strong understanding of healthcare or radiopharmaceutical regulatory environments. The role requires both technical depth and the ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively across functions.

  • Master’s degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Radiologic Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in radiation safety, health physics, or regulatory compliance, preferably within healthcare or radiopharmaceutical environments.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Health Physics (CHP) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site radiation safety programs and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Deep knowledge of NRC and state radiation regulations, as well as USP <825>, <797>, and <800>.
  • Experience with radiation modeling software and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and technical writing capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Availability to respond to radiation-related incidents on a 24/7 basis when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of quality and safety.
  • Demonstrated creativity, adaptability, resilience, and a results-oriented approach.
  • Strong ethical judgment and commitment to professional integrity.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders at different levels.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Benefits:

  • Fully remote position within the United States.
  • Opportunity to lead radiation safety and regulatory programs across a national network of radiopharmacy operations.
  • High-impact role combining technical leadership, regulatory strategy, facility support, and operational collaboration.
  • Opportunity to mentor and provide technical guidance to health physics professionals.
  • Up to 30% travel associated with site support and regulatory activities.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary projects involving Pharmacy Operations, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a highly regulated healthcare environment.
  • Inclusive workplace committed to diversity, collaboration, innovation, and professional excellence.
