Position Summary
Wescom Solutions is seeking an Operation Support professional for support on major rail construction projects. Work will include supporting the Maintenance of Way (MOW), MOW Engineering, Rail Operations, and Systems Engineering groups. The individual will assist on technical, systems-related installations, and provide support to the contractor to continue installation work in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support field roles of Rail Operations and MOW as needed/directed
- Attend designated Project/Contractor project meetings as required
- Receive required Rail Safety, Wayside Worker Protection, Radio, Discipline Specific MOW, and Contractor’s required safety training
- Review and be knowledgeable on the Scope of Work for the projects
- Provide updates to key authority stakeholders and other departments on progress and issues as requested
- Create schedules and other tracking tools/documents to ensure timely responses and timely support when required/requested from the Operations team
- Request meetings with project team, contractors and other departments as necessary to address and resolve issues
- Attend testing and vehicle movements through construction work zones
- Act as EIC/WIC when requested/required by the Operations team
- Assist technical staff, project managers, and contractors with risk identification and assessment, offering input, analysis, escalation, or resolution with construction, mitigation, and improvement activities for more intricate and involved construction or engineering problems
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid state driver’s license
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience serving on rail transit projects or at rail transit authorities
- Well-defined knowledge of rail operations, construction, field oversight practices, process, methods, and techniques
- Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
