Job Description

Executive Director, Pharmacy

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the development and leadership of overall pharmacy strategy and operations. Provides mentorship and strategic leadership to the pharmacy team and partners with clinical leadership to drive an integrated pharmacy and medical management model that optimizes the care delivery system and improves the health of Community First members. Develops and implements clinical cost of care strategies and quality initiatives as needed to help reduce pharmacy cost and utilization. Communicates with key customers to help keep them informed of pharmacy programs, cost issues, utilization issues and budget performance. Supports health plan initiatives that include both pharmacy and medical benefit components. Serves as the primary pharmacy representative to ensure pharmaceutical services and medication management systems support Community First’s Mission, Vision, and Triple Aim Plus program.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Current unrestricted Pharmacist license to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas is required. Pharmacy degree (Pharm. D. strongly preferred), post-graduate residency, fellowship, or advanced business degree (MBA, MHA, MPH) required. Certification via BCPS (Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties) is preferred. Seven to ten years of blended pharmacy benefit design & pharmacy health plan operations required. Ability to manage multiple, complex, concurrent projects. Demonstrated written and verbal communication, relationship building skills, ability to work under general direction, as well as a key member of a leadership team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Previous management experience including responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of staff. Quality improvement experience preferred.

LICENSURE

Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
