Job Title: Patient Conversion Advocate FLSA/Status

Reports To: VP of Patient Engagement Location: Multiple/Remote

Department: Patient Engagement Travel Required: No

Supervisory Responsibility: No

Position Summary:

The Patient Conversion Advocate is responsible for demonstrating knowledge and application of job duties within scope of practice and functions under the direction of Vice President; respectfully interacts with all levels of staff; provides assistance, as needed, during assigned duty hours; participates in department activities; promotes independence; adherence to the attendance policy; encourages socialization; advocates for the quality of life of our patients while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards; supports the company’s core values.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engages with patients recommended for IT therapy (SCIT OR SLIT) to convert them to adherence of treatment recommendations.
  • Schedules patient to begin IT Therapy.
  • Sets up payment plans for IT therapy as necessary during IT Therapy conversion process.
  • Patient follow-up when applicable to ensure patient is scheduled or declines.
  • Understands and has experience with multiple carrier types (Medicare, Medicaid, Dual, Commercial, Managed Care and Advantage plans) in multiple states.
  • Identifies trends and notifies leads and managers immediately to establish a plan of action.
  • Follows SOPs
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Proficient in Availity Essentials
  • Communicates with other departments via shared spreadsheets and conducts regular follow-ups on cross-communication.
  • Able to speak professionally to patients regarding next steps to convert patient care to a plan with FAA

Education, Prior Work Experience, Special Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of recent AR experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications
  • EMR experience – 2 years
  • Proficient in denial management
  • Experience working with Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume, multi-provider practice.
  • Understanding of the Revenue Cycle, including admission, billing, payments, and denials.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Some onsite training required may be necessary

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Remote employees are not applicable to this environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; lighting is in the standard range.

The employee is subject to infectious waste, potential exposure to allergens in concentrated forms, diseases, and conditions.

This role operates primarily in an office environment but may require occasional travel for conferences, meetings, or client interactions.
