JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Product Planner
Department: Product Research & Development
Reports To: Product Engineering Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt / Bonus Eligible

POSITION SUMMARY

The Product Planner supports product planning and development activities through a combination of master data management, project coordination, and defined-scope project ownership. This role is responsible for maintaining product-related data accuracy, supporting cross-functional execution, coordinating project deliverables, and contributing to new product development initiatives. Working under the guidance of the Sr. Product Planner, the Product Planner develops technical, operational, and business knowledge while supporting the successful launch and lifecycle management of products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Planning & Project Execution

  • Support and/or manage lower-complexity product development projects or assigned project workstreams.
  • Execute assigned project tasks and deliverables while maintaining project timelines and objectives.
  • Support implementation of new products within U.S. production operations.
  • Assist with setup and management of Manufaktur/custom products and spare parts programs.
  • Track project progress, milestones, and deliverables to support departmental objectives.
  • Assist in maintaining Stage Gate documentation and project records.
  • Support engineering change activities, including documentation updates and system implementation.

Master Data & Systems Management

  • Create and maintain SAP material master data in coordination with the Master Data team.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and routings within SAP.
  • Maintain product-related master data accuracy and completeness throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Set up and maintain Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) data and associated documentation.
  • Execute system updates resulting from engineering changes and product modifications.
  • Coordinate and execute Robotic Process Automation (RPA) master data processes as assigned.

Project Coordination & Cross-Functional Support

  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities across multiple functional departments.
  • Support communication between Product Development, Quality Assurance, Industrial Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in tracking project schedules, action items, and status reporting.
  • Coordinate PPAP submissions, AWT testing activities, and related project requirements.
  • Support resolution of production and implementation issues through coordination, data analysis, and follow-up activities.

Cost Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Assist with collection and analysis of product and manufacturing cost data.
  • Support cost tracking and reporting activities.
  • Contribute to cost reduction and product optimization initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating manufacturing alternatives and process improvement opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to product development and operational efficiency.

Professional Development & Technical Learning

  • Develop working knowledge of manufacturing processes, product structures, and cost drivers.
  • Participate in larger product development projects to gain experience and technical expertise.
  • Build proficiency in SAP, PLM systems, product lifecycle processes, and production systems.
  • Gain familiarity with internal cost optimization tools, including i4i systems and workflows.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to expand technical and business knowledge.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in product development, project coordination, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, or related business functions preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, PLM systems, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
