CAH - HOME HEALTH AIDE in Carthage, New York at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center

CAH-Meadowbrook Terrace – Home Health Aide –Per Diem-Day shift-2:30p-10:30p primary shift; various shifts as needed-Req 9742

Pay Range $21.20-$24.82*+

Please note that we are not offering classes, at this time. Applicants MUST have either a CNA or an HHA certification to be considered for this position. CNAs will have to travel to Canton to complete a one day class to become HHA certified.

Job Summary:

You will be tasked with helping patients with personal hygiene, minor medical needs, housekeeping, and other daily needs as required by the patient. To excel in this role, you should have an interest in healthcare and the ability to work with limited supervision keeping the patient’s needs as your top priority.

Requirements:

1. Literate, emotionally mature adult in good health possessing integrity, poise, dignity, and good grooming.

2. Must possess a current, valid NYS Driver’s License.

3. The Home Health Aide must have CNA or HHA Certification

4. A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.

5. Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral/written instructions in English, document care given, record messages, keep simple records and speak the predominant language of the resident.

6. Sympathetic attitude towards providing services for residents.

7. Participate in 12 hours of in-service education per year as required by New York State regulations.

8. Must be self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.

9. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and interact tactfully with clients, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.

10. Must be trained in medication assistance and demonstrate competency.
