Childcare and Activities Supervisor - Seasonal

Reports to: F&B Manager

Supervises: Youth Activities Coordinator(s), Children's Program Associates, Seasonal Camp Staff

Classification: Hourly, Seasonal (October-June)

Job Summary

The Youth Programs Supervisor is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, development, and supervision of youth and children's programming. This position oversees all childcare, youth enrichment activities, camps, educational programs, and special events designed for members' and guests' children. The Supervisor ensures a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment while managing staff, budgets, program quality, and member satisfaction.

The Youth Programs Supervisor works collaboratively with club leadership and other departments to create innovative programming that supports family engagement, enhances the member experience, and contributes to organizational goals.

Job Tasks/Duties

Program Leadership and Development

  • Design, develop, implement, and evaluate youth and children's programs, events, camps, workshops, and recreational activities.
  • Ensure all programming is age-appropriate, engaging, educational, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Develop annual, seasonal, and monthly activity calendars.
  • Introduce innovative programs that increase participation and member satisfaction.
  • Coordinate after-school programs, enrichment activities, tutoring opportunities, and special events.

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, coach, and evaluate youth program employees and volunteers.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing professional development.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for all youth activities and events.
  • Monitor staff compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and childcare regulations.
  • Process payroll approvals and maintain personnel records as required.

Childcare and Program Operations

  • Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environment for all program participants.
  • Oversee daily childcare operations and participant supervision.
  • Ensure children receive individual attention, guidance, and positive reinforcement.
  • Address behavioral issues appropriately and consistently.
  • Monitor facility conditions, equipment, toys, and supplies to ensure safety and cleanliness.

Parent and Member Engagement

  • Develop strong relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Communicate program information, schedules, policies, and special events.
  • Address concerns and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
  • Gather feedback and implement improvements to enhance program quality.

Budget and Administrative Management

  • Assist in developing and managing annual program budgets.
  • Monitor revenues and expenses and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Prepare activity reports, participation metrics, financial summaries, and program evaluations.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships for program supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure accurate billing for youth program activities and special events.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all safety policies, childcare standards, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of program spaces and equipment.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents.
  • Maintain required records, certifications, and compliance documentation.

Department Collaboration

  • Partner with Communications, Food & Beverage, Membership, and other departments to promote youth programs and events.
  • Assist with family-focused club initiatives and special events.
  • Support organizational goals through cross-functional teamwork and member engagement efforts.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend leadership and staff meetings.
  • Support holiday parties, birthday celebrations, camps, field trips, and special events.
  • Serve as a role model and positive mentor for children and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by club leadership.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to actively participate in youth activities, games, camps, and events.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional outdoor events in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to project voice and maintain supervision of groups of children.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation Management, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Sociology, Sports Management, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in youth programming, childcare services, recreation, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing youth programs, camps, educational activities, and family events.
  • Experience managing staff, budgets, and program operations preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test in advance of first day

Licenses and Certifications

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
