Job Description
The Critical Facility Technician – Electrical Lead serves as the lead electrical journeyperson, providing technical leadership and guidance while working alongside onsite Critical Facility Engineers. The Electrical Lead is responsible for ensuring the overall reliability, performance, and operational health of all critical electrical infrastructure within the data center environment. This includes oversight of electrical system installation, acceptance testing, and advanced technical support for site operations. The Electrical Lead leverages extensive hands-on experience to install electrical systems, mentor, train, and develop technical staff, ensuring technicians possess the skills necessary to safely diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical system issues.
Primary Duties within varied scope of work and client expectations will range from:
•Work with Construction teams to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. Ensure newly built systems meet design intent and perform without issue during the facility acceptance testing phases. Review construction equipment submittals, commissioning plans and identify potential deficiencies.
•Responsible for conducting and/or overseeing preventative maintenance on regular electrical systems and periodic testing of the equipment
•Utilize established programs and procedures to maximize equipment operability and efficiency while minimizing life cycle costs.
•Understand potential equipment failures and provide full technical support to Operations teams in the event of a critical system failure.
•Perform Root-Cause Failure Analysis and facilitate corrective action.
•Provide at request guidance and technical support to Facility Operators.
•Represent the operation department in project meetings as needed.
•Establish and review project objectives, policies, procedures (MOP, SOP, and EOP) and performance standards within boundaries of company policies. Put these in clear concise work statement for the field. Follow SOPs and MOPs and other work procedures precisely
•Directly work with assigned technicians in all aspects of day-to-day operations and maintenance of all electrical critical facility equipment.
•Ensure Site Teams are proficient system operation and maintenance techniques. •Provides direction and training to less experienced O&M Specialists.
•On-call to respond to emergency situations at the data center.
- Perform preventative tests and analyze data to ensure the proper functioning of all installed electrical components
•Performs unscheduled maintenance tasks and response to requests on a regular basis, including assessing the nature of the emergency, determining a solution to prevent further damage or problems, and identifying the resources needs to resolve the problem
