Director of Strategic Operations, Litigation Support

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Strategic Operations, Litigation Support based in the United States.

This is a high-impact strategic operations role supporting the growth and evolution of a fast-scaling litigation support organization.
You’ll partner closely with senior leadership to turn ambiguous, high-stakes challenges into clear priorities, scalable processes, and measurable results.
The role combines strategy, operational execution, analytics, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll help strengthen reporting, workflows, quality standards, and systems while identifying opportunities to expand into new markets and service lines.
You’ll also work closely with product and technical teams to bring operational improvements from concept through implementation.
With significant exposure to leadership, this role offers the opportunity to shape how a growing business operates and scales.
The ideal candidate is an autonomous, analytical operator who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys turning complex problems into practical solutions.

Accountabilities
  • Partner with the Litigation Support General Manager on strategic priorities, operational planning, roadmaps, and high-impact business decisions, including situations involving incomplete information or tight timelines.
  • Own cross-functional projects spanning operations, go-to-market initiatives, process design, and other business priorities where strong ownership and execution are needed.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and lead initiatives from diagnosis through solution design, implementation, and measurement.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to increase business growth as the department expands across new jurisdictions, clients, and service lines.
  • Lead team transitions, organizational design initiatives, and process rollouts in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Manage the operating relationship with delivery teams, including service levels, performance expectations, and escalations.
  • Establish quality standards, monitor performance, and partner with people managers to address gaps through coaching, process improvements, and accountability.
  • Own reporting frameworks for leadership and executive audiences, including SLA performance, productivity, error rates, case completion, and other operational health metrics.
  • Conduct research on strategic and operational questions and create leadership- and board-ready materials that transform detailed operational information into clear, actionable narratives.
  • Partner with product and technical teams to define requirements, assess trade-offs, and manage initiatives from research and planning through execution.
  • Own the department’s hiring strategy, including recruiting, onboarding, and ramp planning for new team members.
  • Develop strong working knowledge of California court filing and Service of Process requirements and lead research, project management, and process design initiatives supporting expansion into additional states and jurisdictions.
  • Translate jurisdictional and regulatory requirements into practical workflows, SOPs, training frameworks, and scalable playbooks.
  • Represent Litigation Support Operations in company-wide initiatives and surface blockers requiring executive attention.
  • Manage multiple concurrent and often unrelated projects while maintaining momentum, quality, and accountability across each initiative.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, strategy, business operations, or a comparable role, ideally within legal services, professional services, or a high-growth startup environment.
  • Proven ability to independently lead ambiguous, high-stakes initiatives from problem identification and diagnosis through solution design and implementation.
  • Strong project management skills, with demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent initiatives without sacrificing quality or deadlines.
  • Experience developing and maintaining trusted operational reporting frameworks covering SLAs, productivity, quality, error rates, case completion, or similar performance indicators.
  • Experience partnering with product and technical teams to define requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and manage projects through execution.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly develop expertise in unfamiliar or complex subject areas, including California court filing and Service of Process requirements.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, with experience translating complex operational information into concise, compelling materials for senior leaders or boards.
  • Experience coaching or partnering with people managers to improve performance through structure, process optimization, accountability, and direct feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience scaling teams, processes, operations, markets, jurisdictions, or service lines within a growing organization.
  • High autonomy, strong ownership, and a low-ego approach to problem solving, with a willingness to step into areas that may not yet have clear ownership.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-changing environments where priorities and responsibilities evolve significantly as the organization grows.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary of $150,000–$190,000, plus an incentive bonus.
  • Premium medical, dental, and vision coverage, with options available for employees and dependents and 100% premium coverage on select plans.
  • Wellness and mental health benefits that can be shared with employees and their families.
  • Flexible paid time off designed to support balance and flexibility.
  • Equity opportunities that provide the chance to share in the organization’s growth.
  • Access to a company-provided 401(k) account.
  • Home office equipment and a monthly stipend to help offset internet and phone expenses.
  • Fully remote work environment with the opportunity to collaborate with senior leadership and influence strategic initiatives at scale.
