Position Summary:
In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Jollyologist – Senior Living Culture & Social Media Storyteller plays a critical role in showcasing the lifestyle, culture, people, and experiences within our Independent Living Communities.
The Jollyologist is responsible for creating and managing engaging social media and marketing content across their assigned independent senior living communities. This position will regularly travel between communities to capture authentic resident experiences, activities, celebrations, relationships, team members, family interactions, and other moments that demonstrate the unique culture and lifestyle of each community.
The Jollyologist will serve as a visible and positive presence within the communities and will establish strong relationships with Residents, families, team members, community leadership, and outside partners. The successful candidate will combine strong interpersonal skills with photography, videography, social media, marketing, and storytelling abilities to create content that increases community awareness, engagement, inquiries, tours, referrals, and overall brand recognition.
The ideal candidate is energetic, outgoing, creative, organized, comfortable in front of and behind the camera, and genuinely enjoys spending time with older adults.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

- Travels regularly between assigned independent senior living communities to identify and capture content and stories that showcase the lifestyle and culture of each community.
- Develops and implements community-specific social media and digital content strategies aligned with occupancy, sales, and brand objectives.
- Independently determines content priorities, themes, campaigns, platforms, and publishing strategies based on community needs and audience engagement.
- Advises community leadership and Sales & Marketing leadership regarding opportunities to increase awareness, inquiries, referrals, tours, and occupancy.
- Analyzes social media, digital marketing, and campaign performance and independently develops recommendations for improving engagement, lead generation, and conversion.
- Uses audience insights, engagement data, trends, and community-specific information to modify marketing strategies.
- Creates, photographs, records, edits, schedules, and publishes engaging content for social media and other marketing purposes.
- Creates short-form video content, including Reels, TikTok videos, interviews, event recaps, community features, resident stories, team-member spotlights, and other digital content.
- Captures authentic photographs and videos of Residents, families, team members, activities, events, outings, celebrations, and daily community life.
- Identifies unique and compelling resident stories, including hobbies, talents, accomplishments, careers, relationships, life experiences, and personal milestones.
- Conducts resident, family, team-member, and community-partner interviews for use in social media and marketing materials.
- Develops resident and family testimonials that accurately and positively communicate the experience of living within the community.
- Works closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Community Executive Directors to identify marketing opportunities and develop content supporting occupancy and sales objectives.
- Maintains consistent brand standards while allowing each community's individual personality and culture to be represented.
- Monitors social media comments, messages, engagement, and activity and coordinates appropriate responses with community leadership and marketing personnel.
- Reviews social media analytics and performance to determine which content is effective and makes recommendations for future content.
- Repurposes successful content across multiple social media platforms and marketing channels.
- Maintains an organized library of photographs, videos, testimonials, and other digital marketing assets.
- Obtains and maintains appropriate consent and releases for photographs, videos, testimonials, and other Resident or family content in accordance with company policies.
- Works with community leadership to ensure content is appropriate, accurate, respectful, and consistent with organizational standards.
- Builds positive relationships with Residents and becomes a familiar and trusted presence within each community.
- Uses thoughtful questions and conversation to identify meaningful stories and experiences.
- Participates in community activities, events, programs, celebrations, outings, and other Resident experiences rather than simply observing from behind a camera.
- Helps create a positive, energetic, and welcoming environment within the communities.
- Supports community marketing events, open houses, referral events, special programs, and other sales and marketing initiatives.
- Creates content designed to help prospective Residents and their families understand the lifestyle, services, culture, and experience of each community.
- Supports efforts to increase community awareness, social media engagement, inquiries, referrals, tours, and occupancy.
- Represents the organization in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner.
- Maintains confidentiality and always protects Resident privacy and dignity.
- Meet/exceed established performance goals. Additional performance requirements may be communicated.
- Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
- Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to the supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. However, all employees are expected to lead by example, demonstrate professionalism, support their supervisors and leadership team, and contribute positively to the success of the team and organization.
Requirements:Required/Desired Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, Advertising, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
- 2–4 years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, content creation, communications, photography, videography, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing engaging digital and social media content across multiple platforms.
- Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, video editing, and/or graphic design.
- Experience developing content calendars and managing multiple projects, locations, or audiences preferred.
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or another service-oriented industry preferred.
- Portfolio or examples of relevant content may be requested.
Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Strong photography and videography skills, including the ability to capture high-quality, authentic images and video in a variety of community settings.
- Proficiency with photo and video editing software and applications.
- Proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other relevant digital platforms.
- Strong understanding of social media trends, algorithms, engagement strategies, and platform-specific content best practices.
- Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to create engaging captions, headlines, stories, scripts, and marketing copy.
- Ability to develop creative content that reflects the unique personality, culture, lifestyle, and values of each senior living community.
- Ability to identify compelling stories, interview residents and team members, and translate personal experiences into engaging marketing content.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to communicate authentic and meaningful resident and community experiences.
- Ability to independently plan, organize, and manage a content calendar across multiple communities and platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative in identifying stories, content opportunities, and marketing strategies that support community awareness, engagement, inquiries, and occupancy.
Other Special Requirements:
- Ability to work nights and weekends to accommodate the needs of the residents.
- Tolerate potential exposure to blood, body tissues, and fluids with occasional exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
- Manual dexterity that is required to operate modern office equipment.
- Complete and maintain eligibility in the fleet safety program.
- Ability to travel as needed or assigned.
