Job Description
Located on more than 400 acres in Western Massachusetts, Wilbraham & Monson Academy is an independent day and boarding school serving 410 students in grades 6 through postgraduate. The Middle School enrolls 80 students and includes a dormitory for students in grades 7 and 8.
Wilbraham & Monson Academy seeks a Spanish teacher to provide maternity leave coverage from mid-November 2026 through June 1, 2027. The teacher will work with students in grades 6–12, teaching two Spanish 2 classes in the Middle School and two Spanish 3/Spanish 3 Honors classes in the Upper School. Class sizes range from 9 to 14 students. We seeka dedicated, enthusiastic educator who will inspire a love of language learning and help students become effectivecommunicators in Spanish.
Requirements:The ideal candidate will have:
· A bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field
· A master’s degree in Spanish or education (preferred)
· Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish (preferred)
· Two to three years of successful teaching experience
· A demonstrated understanding of differentiated teaching and learning approaches
· Familiarity with ACTFL proficiency standards
· A record of effective collaboration with colleagues
· Strong classroom organization and management skills
TWO EMPLOYMENT OPTIONS (Responsibilities and compensation vary)
1. Part-time: Teaching responsibilities only; no additional duties.
2. Full-time: Teaching, serving as an assistant coach for one sport, and assisting with student activities on two weekends.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires the manual dexterity to operate office equipment, including, but not limited to, computers, telephones, electronic calculators, copy machines, and printers. Common physical demands include stooping, bending, reaching, walking, and sitting or standing for extended periods.
