Job Description
JOB TITLE: Clinical DirectorSTATUS: Salary, Full-Time, ExemptREPORTS TO: Executive DirectorSUMMARY:The Clinical Director is responsible for the overall operations and supervision of the assigned portion of one of AMFM Healthcare’s core Behavioral Health Treatment Clinical Programs. Under the supervision of the Executive Clinical Director, The Clinical Director shall continually strengthen the organization’s infrastructure, supervise personnel, and enforce organizational, regulatory, and accreditory policies and procedures. The Clinical Director is expected to perform various administrative tasks and demonstrate leadership, professional ethics, and ensure quality service delivery to persons served and their families. The Clinical Director shall oversee the care and treatment of all clients in AMFM Healthcare’s programs that have been designated to be under their scope of responsibility. The Clinical Director will develop and implement clinical programming that is therapeutically challenging and engaging for the clients while also meeting payor and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Director, if assigned, will provide clinical supervision, both formally and informally, to clinicians within their programs. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Licensure/Education – Associate licensed clinician (AMFT, ACSW, APCC) with experience in a mental health treatment environment. Managerial experience. Masters degree from an accredited University.
- Preferred Licensure/Education – Licensed clinician (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, Psy. D) with experience in a mental health treatment environment. Managerial experience. Masters degree from an accredited University.
- Must be 21 years or older to apply for this position.
- Successful completion of the ADP Selective Screening Services background check as well as any other state, federal or company required background/record check.
- 3+ years experience working in a relevant field.
- Possess valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by our auto insurance policy which includes, but not limited to, the following requirements: 4 continuous years of driving experience, 21 years of age or older, less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, and no more than 1 major violation in the last 3 years.
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Current T.B. clearance
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work on a computer/keyboard, use electronic systems, communicate with others through written and verbal formats, ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time, ability to climb stairs, listening, reading comprehension, lifting up to 20 lbs.
Possess the skills and knowledge of the operations of a multi-care level facility, multidisciplinary clinical treatment team and best practices for relevant levels of care and environments.
- Familiar with a variety of therapeutic modalities and have a thorough understanding of Evidence-Based Treatment practices
- Possess managerial and supervisory skills.
Ability to communicate with family members, clients, and other staff members professionally and respectfully.
Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment, including telephones, computers, copy machines, fax machines, calculators, scanners, and shredders.
- Ability to be professional and maintain a positive attitude and relationships with coworkers.
- Excel at both written and verbal communications to convey essential information; must be able to utilize the proper linguistic syntax and spelling.
- Knowledge of clinical and medical terminology as it relates to the delivery of clinical care to the clients within our programs as required by our payers.
- Knowledge of the clinical, medical, and miscellaneous services provided to the clients.
- Ability to use computer software including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and G Suite products.
- Experience preference as roles similar to Adolescent Clinical Director, Director of Adolescent Behavioral Health, Youth & Teen Clinical Director, Residential Clinical Director.
- Uphold and enforce the agency’s standards, policies and procedures, client rights, and professional code of ethics and conduct, and take on additional duties as needed.
- Collaboratively develop and oversee treatment experiences that meet the needs of clients struggling with mental health disorders.
- Support, through supervision, the Clinical Director with management of their clinical and managerial responsibilities.
- Develop and cultivate an environment based on person-centered philosophy and culturally sensitive to client needs, and lead, direct, and motivate staff to successful completion of goals.
- Report routinely, to the VP of Operations on the status and progress of the program's clinical activities, staff, and individual clients.
- Work collaboratively with admissions, company leadership, and other stakeholders on ensuring an effective and timely process for evaluating clinical eligibility is established.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of clinically oriented administrative and direct clinical care staff, as well as contracted individuals rendering clinical services to the clients within the program.
- Responsible for continuous quality management and performance improvement in the clinical department.
- Assist Human Resources with staff conflicts, disciplinary action, and termination, if necessary. Perform 90 day and annual performance evaluation of assigned supervisees.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with subordinate staff, supervisors, utilization review, managed health care clinicians, medical and mental health professionals.
- Leadership
- Successfully liaise between multiple departments and place the needs of the organization as a whole as a priority.
- Strengthen the department and the organization through the development of a strong work culture that promotes efficiency, collaboration, and beneficial outcomes for clients.
- Joint Commission Leadership
- Be aware of all relevance sections and guiding philosophies of Joint Commission standards and practices
- Participate in the compliance activities as they relate to clinical service delivery as well as performance improvement and leadership development.
- Train and oversee the clinical department on all relevant material that pertains to fulfilling clinical documentation requirements.
- Clinical Supervision
- Train and supervise clinicians as they gain clinical experience, guiding them on documentation and organizational policy standards
- Ensure all relevant supervisory bodies code of ethics is adhered to
- Regularly hold supervision sessions, and provide superior instruction to clinicians on the requirements and expectations of their job duties.
- Clinical Documentation
- Knowledge of regulations and guidelines
- Prepares accurate and concise notes
- Write comprehensive, clear interpretive summaries
- Progress notes consistent with treatment plan goals and objectives.
- Technological Proficiency
- Familiar with and easily operates within the Google Workspace ecosystem
- Familiar with and easily navigates Zoom and Google Meet.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong typing skills
- Managerial Proficiency
- Able to lead a team to the successful completion of regular assigned duties as well as projects
- Coordinate among assigned supervisees the work that needs to be done to fulfill each employee's job requirements and duties.
- Engender and foster a spirit of cooperation inside and outside of staff within the managers assigned team.
- Regularly check in and monitor progress of supervisees, guiding them and giving them the tools to succeed in their positions.
