AREA DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

The Area Director of Sales & Marketing will carry out the sales efforts of the assigned properties in the stated market by soliciting business across all market segments to maximize the overall positioning of the hotels and to meet and/or exceed budgeted revenue, market share and other goals in room, group, meetings and banquets.

Duties of the Area Director of Sales & Marketing include:

  • Prospect and solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Creatively manages all aspects of the sales and marketing efforts for hotels. Provide the strategic vision for maximum hotels sales generation and optimal revenue growth.
  • Promptly prepares correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance/database entry.
  • Drive increased revenue and profit to achieve the Company`s ambitious growth.
  • Achievement of stringent targets, the job holder will be required to adopt a professional and knowledgeable approach to each new business call.
  • Fosters a positive and sales focused team attitude to all departments and maintains open communications with all team members and brand representatives for the best overall performance of the hotels.
  • Participates in daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
  • Time Management to ensure both hotels are successful in meeting revenue goals and provided ample sales support.
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
  • Forge relationships and build rapport. Cultivate, enhance and leverage external and internal relationships to elevate hotels and market share awareness and drive business.
  • Develops/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Technical skills required to understand and propose strategies, tactics, or solutions by focusing on client requirements,
  • Planning and coordinating the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets.
  • Adaptable and actively listens to clearly understand the needs behind each opportunity.
  • Collaborates with the hotel General Manager and Regional Managers to build and activate hotel/market specific opportunities and related strategies to capture new business.
  • Lead and manage Business Transient RFP process for hotels.
  • Assist with all group leads and rate negotiations.
  • Social Media, advertising partnerships

Requirements of the Role:

  • Experience in working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions
  • Must have experience of working in a corporate/business focused environment
  • Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of successfully pitching for new business
  • Proven track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads at both hotel level and organizational level
  • Must have experience of successfully developing, implementing and benefitting from organizational sales strategies
  • Established history of achieving sales goals
  • Exhibits professionalism, a service focused approach and an enthusiasm for success
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Management, Economics, Marketing, or other business-related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a management or leadership role (hospitality, retail, food service preferred), Desired candidate would have 3-4 years’ work experience in a hospitality sales experience

Knowledge:

  • General understanding of common office procedures
  • Basic business management practices

Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently
  • Intermediate computer operation including but not limited to accessing data from the internet
  • Effective communication with staff and guests
  • Effective conflict management
  • Effective negotiation and sales skills

Abilities:

  • Read, comprehend, and follow written procedures
  • Respond calmly in situations of conflict and stress
  • Adapt to changes in daily work
  • Problem solve in a timely manner
