Dye Room Technician
Manufacturing / Dye Room • Grand Prairie • On-site
At Local Crafts, we're the creative force behind some of the most beloved names in crafting — Connecting Threads, Superior Threads, Knit Picks, Crochet.com, Jimmy Beans Wool and Berroco. From our own workshops to trusted partners around the globe, we design and curate products makers reach for every day: the fabrics, threads, yarns, and tools that turn ideas into finished pieces.
The Dye Room Technician is the prep person between the production schedule and the dyers. This role makes sure the right sample skeins, colors, recipes, yarn, materials, and buckets are pulled, prepared, labeled, and delivered to the dye kitchen so the dyers can stay focused on production. It's a great fit for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys keeping a hands-on production process running smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Pull and organize the sample skeins and picks needed for upcoming dye batches
- Identify the colors and recipes that need to be prepared for the dyers
- Gather the correct yarn, skeins, and other materials required for each recipe
- Prepare the required buckets for each dye batch
- Measure and organize materials according to the dye recipe and instructions
- Label buckets clearly with the color, recipe or batch information, and required identifiers
- Stage completed buckets at the prep station and transport them to the dye kitchen
- Keep the prep area organized and make sure upcoming batches are ready for the dyers
- Communicate missing samples, materials, recipes, or discrepancies before production begins
What You'll Bring
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when following recipes and preparing batches
- Ability to follow detailed processes and instructions consistently
- Strong organization skills and the ability to keep multiple upcoming batches prepared
- Ability to identify and communicate missing information or discrepancies before production begins
- Comfort working in a hands-on manufacturing and dye room environment
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality and consistency
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a team-focused approach
You'll Thrive Here If
- You are organized and like having the next step ready before it is needed
- You notice small details and catch issues before they affect production
- You enjoy hands-on work and keeping materials, recipes, and work areas organized
- You communicate clearly when something is missing or does not match the production plan
- You like being part of a team and helping others stay productive
- You'll play an important role in keeping dye production moving by making sure the dyers have the right materials, recipes, and batches ready when they need them.
