This role offers an opportunity to handle sophisticated casualty and litigation claims within a collaborative, customer-focused insurance environment.
You will manage intermediate to complex claims across areas such as commercial liability, automobile liability, directors and officers, and professional liability.
The position combines technical claims expertise, investigation, coverage analysis, liability assessment, and effective resolution of complex files.
You will work closely with claimants, brokers, vendors, and other stakeholders while ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
Beyond managing your own portfolio, you will contribute to team development by mentoring colleagues and supporting the onboarding of new claims professionals.

- Manage intermediate to complex casualty and litigation claims, including files that are subject to legal proceedings.
- Confirm coverage and conduct thorough investigations to establish the facts, circumstances, and liability associated with each claim.
- Assess claims effectively and collaborate with relevant third parties to support appropriate and timely resolution.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive claim summaries for internal reporting, significant-loss reviews, and reinsurance purposes.
- Maintain a high level of organization and manage a demanding daily workload while ensuring accuracy and responsiveness.
- Deliver a consistently positive customer experience when interacting with claimants, brokers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Support the development of new team members through job-shadowing and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to other claims professionals within the team.
- Apply sound claims judgment and technical expertise to complex situations while maintaining appropriate documentation and processes.
- Post-secondary education in insurance or a related field.
- Professional Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada (CIP/PAA) designation completed or in progress.
- At least 10 years of experience handling casualty or liability claims, including complex files.
- Experience with commercial insurance is considered an asset.
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office and related productivity tools.
- Strong understanding of claims investigation, coverage assessment, liability determination, and litigation-related claims processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters clearly to claimants, brokers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with sound judgment when managing complex claims.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to mentor, support, and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Strong customer-service orientation and commitment to delivering professional, responsive claims experiences.
