Job Description

Forward Deployed Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer based in Canada.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, cloud technology, and generative AI within a fast-growing, globally distributed environment.
You’ll embed directly with client organizations, working alongside engineering, product, IT, and business teams to solve complex, ambiguous problems.
You’ll own assigned workstreams end-to-end, building and shipping production-quality solutions directly in client environments.
The role combines hands-on technical delivery with discovery, architecture, stakeholder collaboration, and rapid prototyping.
Depending on your specialization, you may build LLM-native systems for technical teams or AI-powered automations for business functions such as Finance, HR, Legal, or Supply Chain.
You’ll work with emerging AI technologies and contribute reusable solutions and patterns that strengthen the broader practice.
With high autonomy, meaningful client exposure, and advancement tied to delivery impact, this role is designed for builders who want to shape the future of enterprise AI.

Accountabilities:
  • Own assigned workstreams from discovery through delivery, taking responsibility for scope, priorities, timelines, and quality while working as part of a larger client engagement.
  • Build and deploy production-quality software, AI solutions, automations, and technical workflows directly within client codebases and environments.
  • Participate in discovery sessions, architecture discussions, stakeholder interviews, and technical planning alongside senior engineers and client teams.
  • Translate ambiguous business or technical challenges into clearly scoped, actionable deliverables and rapidly move from problem definition to working solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering, product, IT, and business stakeholders, adapting communication and solution design to different technical audiences.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and blockers early, escalating strategically when decisions fall outside your scope while maintaining ownership of tactical delivery.
  • Develop LLM-powered applications and AI-enabled workflows where appropriate, including integrations, tool use, automation, and emerging agent-based patterns.
  • Transfer sustainable capabilities to clients by documenting solutions and ensuring delivered software or automations can operate independently after the engagement.
  • Contribute reusable technical artifacts, patterns, or approaches to the broader practice before completing each engagement.
  • Continuously learn and adapt in an environment where requirements evolve quickly and established playbooks may not always exist.
Requirements
  • 2–4 years of experience in software engineering, technical delivery, business systems, or a comparable technical role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes without requiring daily supervision.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more areas such as LLM application development, cloud-native development, backend engineering, or business automation.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineers while remaining accessible and credible with business stakeholders.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and a demonstrated ability to begin creating solutions before every requirement has been fully defined.
  • Experience building with LLM APIs such as Claude, AWS Bedrock, or equivalent is highly valued, particularly exposure to prompt architecture, tool use, and basic agent patterns.
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud-native technologies, containerization, and backend systems is an advantage.
  • Experience rapidly prototyping solutions and turning ambiguous problems into functional proofs of concept is preferred.
  • Consulting, systems integration, professional services, or client-facing delivery experience is a plus.
  • For operationally focused candidates, strong knowledge of a business function such as Finance, HR, Legal, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing is valuable.
  • Experience with business automation platforms such as Zapier, Power Automate, Airtable, or similar tools is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms including Salesforce, Oracle, Dynamics 365, Workday, ServiceNow, or equivalent systems is beneficial.
  • Experience supporting AI adoption or digital transformation programs for non-technical audiences is a plus.
  • A self-directed, adaptable, collaborative, and outcome-oriented mindset is essential for succeeding in a high-autonomy environment.
Benefits
  • Fully remote work with a globally distributed team.
  • Competitive base salary of CAD $150,000–$235,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Additional compensation may include bonuses, commissions, equity, and other performance-based incentives.
  • Competitive phantom equity.
  • Equitable Life hybrid benefits plan with 100% premium coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Long-Term Disability coverage.
  • 4% employer pension contribution match.
  • Unlimited vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, and parental leave.
  • Paid professional exams and certifications.
  • Peer bonus and recognition awards.
  • State-of-the-art laptop and professional tools.
  • Equipment and home-office stipend.
  • Individual professional development plan and annual Learning & Development stipend.
  • Opportunity to work on emerging AI technologies, including agents and production-grade AI applications.
  • Exposure to high-impact client engagements and opportunities to develop independent delivery and account ownership capabilities.
  • Opportunity to work with a high-trust, international team and contribute to a rapidly developing AI services practice.
  • Up to 50% travel may be required, depending on business needs.
  • This position does not offer visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
