Registered Pest Control Technician
Job Description
General Description:
A Technician manages a route providing pest prevention and inspection services to residential and/or commercial clients. A technician manages existing accounts and is responsible for the growth of the route. Provides professional, friendly, cordial service to clients, works to build strong relationships, problem solve, and recommends actions to prevent future pest control problems.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Drive an APS company vehicle to client sites to provide pest prevention services in a professional, safe, friendly, and cordial manner; Builds positive and strong working relationships with clients.
- Locate, identify, control, and repel pests. Use knowledge of pests’ biology and habits, along with pest management techniques such as applying chemicals, setting traps, operating equipment, and modifying structures to alleviate pest problems.
- Ensure safety of clients and material(s) while performing duties.
- Responds promptly to inquiries from prospective customers. Maintains prospect and customer records in an organized and thorough manner.
- Work to exceed client expectations; Make suggestions to clients on how to avoid pest problems when appropriate.
- Proactively prepares planning for potential pest sighting while controlling pest’s exposure to ensure all applicable information is recorded and reported as required by this plan.
- Respond to client complaints as quickly as possible after receiving notification.
- Work flexible schedules as required to meet client expectations, including weekends.
- Work in a safe manner by state requirements, OSHA, and APS policies and procedures and maintaining and utilizing required safer equipment when providing pest management services. Follow company guidelines when using tools, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain proper inventory of tools, equipment, and materials in assigned APS company vehicle(s).
- Maintain a clean company vehicle and operate vehicle safely and legally.
- Use only EPA or State registered pesticides.
- Application of pesticides will be in accordance with label direction.
- Communicate regularly with the service manager and CSRs to manage schedules, ensure job completion and obtain proper materials to complete scheduled services.
- Complete work orders and other paperwork accurately and timely.
- Always clock in and out of work orders to reflect accurate labor hours for service.
- Participate fully in training opportunities provided to enhance knowledge and to meet requirements for licensing.
- Represent APS by wearing clean company uniform and appropriate footwear and maintaining personal hygiene.
- All other duties assigned within the scope of this position.
Education, Experience and Requirements:
- High School Diploma/equivalent
- Diligently checks work to ensure that all essential details have been considered, notice errors or inconsistencies, and take prompt, thorough action to correct errors.
- Work ethic: consistent and predictable – reliable, responsible, and dependable in fulfilling obligations.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required.
- Ability to develop long-term customer relationships.
- Intermediate proficiency with computer programs such as Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, and database management; Pest Pac experience a plus.
- Physical ability to perform the work includes bending, lifting, carrying 50 lbs. of equipment, kneeling, crawling, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders or scaffolds.
- Excellent time and project management skills; to include interacting with different types of personalities.
- Strong internal and external customer service skills
- Cooperative, willing to share knowledge, cross train, and take on additional responsibilities.
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends during peak season.
- Maintain a valid Commonwealth of Virginia, MD or DC Registered or Certified Pesticide Technician in MD, DC, or VA
