Longwood Gardens is seeking a full-time Electrician to perform installation, repairs, and preventative maintenance of electrical systems throughout the site, while adhering to established safety and electrical regulations. Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing hands-on technical expertise for day-to-day operations and maintenance of electrical equipment and controls in a safe, cost-effective manner while ensuring good housekeeping and an excellent guest experience.
- Planning, organizing, ordering materials, and prioritizing individual work orders assigned.
- Performing day-to-day electrical maintenance, system checks to diagnose problems with the operation, and repairs of various systems including site power distribution/generation, lighting, fountain, controls, fire alarm, and site radio.
- Performing administrative tasks related to the electrical work orders.
- Responding to after-hour call-ins for emergency work as well as a planned rotation with significant off-shift coverage requirement
- Providing support for operational and emergency needs including snow removal.
This position requires working a rotating on-call shift typically during the hours of 2PM-10:30PM.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A completed apprenticeship program or 4 years of demonstrated field experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Electrical license is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA 1910S Safety Standards, as well as ability to read P&ID, construction as-built drawings, and building prints is desired.
- The ability to operate the tools of the trade and to work with other trades.
- Familiarity with email, and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong decision-making, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to climb and work at heights on ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds.
- The ability to stand and sit for extended periods; enter confined spaces and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
