Building & Zoning Director in Lake City, Florida at Columbia County (FL)

This is a highly responsible administrative, managerial and technical position providing direct oversight of the Building Code/Inspection and the Planning/Land Use Regulation offices of the County Code Enforcement, and Special Assessment Inspector. This is advanced skilled management in the enforcement of building codes, ordinances, and related regulations for the safety and welfare of the public including the issuing of permits, review of plans and inspection of property. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for assisting in the development of data, policies and procedures necessary for the operations of the Building and Zoning Department.

Work is performed inside an office. Must?be able to pass a pre-employment physical that screens for?acceptable?eyesight and hearing (with or without correction), the ability to sit for extended periods, and manual dexterity needed to?operate?office machinery.??

Minimum education/experience: graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and two years of professional experience in Urban or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Construction Management/Building Construction, or another related field.??Professional experience may be substituted for required college training on a year-by-year basis.

Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s license is required. AICP, ICC, or State of Florida building official/designations desired but not required. Columbia County residency is required within six (6) months of the date of employment.
