Summary:

The Environmental Specialist assists with the implementation of SD1’s municipal storm water permit. This position performs inspection activities associated with the implementation of storm water quality management plans and compliance with SD1/federal/state regulations to manage water quality impacts associated with storm water runoff.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Conducts inspections of construction sites, post-construction best management practices (BMPs) and other related field investigations associated with storm water runoff.
• Identifies and evaluates performance of standard erosion prevention and sediment control BMPs.
• Completes and maintains electronic inspection records associated with construction site erosion prevention and sediment control and post-construction storm water facility installations.
• Coordinates with permittees (contractors, developers and property owners) to identify violations and appropriate remediation measures.
• Identifies issues of non-compliance and assists with providing supporting documentation for enforcement.
• Maintain assigned equipment and fleet to SD1 standards.
• Performs other duties as necessary within the engineering department.
