About Mt. Pleasant Window & Remodeling
Mt. Pleasant Window & Remodeling is a third-generation, family-owned home improvement company serving Western Pennsylvania for more than 50 years.
We specialize in replacement windows, doors, roofing, siding, bathroom remodeling, gutters, soffit, and fascia.
We are seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to strengthen our operations, develop our leadership team, modernize our systems, and build the capacity for sustained growth.
This opportunity is for a proven operator who has personally improved business performance, built capable teams, and helped an organization scale. You should bring the experience to set direction, the judgment to prioritize what matters, and the willingness to work directly with the team to make improvements happen.
The Opportunity
The COO will serve on the executive leadership team and have direct responsibility for the performance of Operations.
Reporting to the CEO, the COO will lead the complete post-sale operation; from the handoff of a sold project through planning, installation, completion, service, and customer care.
You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to align customer commitments, operational capacity, and profitability.
This is a hands-on executive role. You will spend time in the office, warehouse, and field to understand how work gets done. You must be comfortable reviewing job costs, working through scheduling constraints, evaluating systems, coaching managers, and personally leading important improvements through implementation.
At the same time, you will develop the people, processes, and accountability that allow the operation to perform consistently as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Operational Improvement & Execution
- Assess current performance, identify constraints, and establish a practical Operations plan with clear priorities, owners, and deadlines.
- Address recurring problems at their source rather than relying on temporary fixes.
- Establish accountability for execution and ensure improvements produce lasting results.
- Balance immediate operational needs with longer-term improvements and strategic priorities.
Strengthen Project Delivery & Capacity
- Oversee measurement, technical review, ordering, permitting, purchasing, material flow, scheduling, installation, and project closeout.
- Improve job readiness, schedule reliability, and communication across the post-sale process.
- Plan staffing, installation crews, subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and infrastructure around anticipated demand.
- Improve visibility and control of backlog, service work, and installation capacity.
Build & Develop the Operations Team
- Establish clear responsibilities, expectations, and performance standards.
- Coach and develop managers and strengthen leadership capability throughout Operations.
- Identify staffing and organizational needs as the business grows.
- Address performance issues directly, fairly, and respectfully.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Modernize Systems, Processes & Reporting
- Improve the use of CRM, production-management, scheduling, and reporting systems.
- Establish consistent workflows, procedures, and operating standards.
- Improve the quality and usefulness of operational reporting and performance metrics.
- Lead implementation, training, and adoption so improvements become part of daily work rather than simply new processes on paper.
Improve Operational Financial Performance
- Partner with Finance on job costing, budgets, forecasts, and gross-margin analysis.
- Manage the operational factors that directly affect profitability, including labor efficiency, subcontractor costs, purchasing, material waste, rework, and overhead.
- Use financial and operational data to identify problems, prioritize improvements, and make sound business decisions.
- Establish meaningful operational KPIs and use them to drive accountability.
Protect Quality, Safety & the Homeowner Experience
- Establish consistent standards for installation quality, jobsite professionalism, customer communication, service, and warranty work.
- Maintain appropriate permitting, documentation, safety practices, and operational controls.
- Use customer feedback and performance data to identify and reduce preventable problems.
- Ensure operational standards support a consistently positive homeowner experience.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a proven operator with a demonstrated record of making businesses stronger.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive operations experience, including at least 5 years in senior operations leadership.
- Direct accountability for managers, budgets, complex project delivery, and measurable business results.
- A demonstrated record of improving and scaling operations.
- The ability to clearly explain what you inherited, what you personally changed, how you implemented those changes, and what improved as a result.
- Experience in residential remodeling, home improvement, construction, installation, or another closely related business involving field teams, materials, scheduling, and customer project delivery.
- Residential replacement and remodeling experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong financial judgment and practical experience using job costs, gross margins, budgets, and forecasts to make operational decisions.
- Experience implementing systems and processes, developing managers, and leading teams through organizational change.
- The ability to balance immediate execution with longer-term improvements in an entrepreneurial, family-owned business.
Valuable Additional Experience
Experience with the following will be viewed favorably:
- Employee and subcontractor labor models
- Multiple product lines
- Geographic expansion
- Capacity planning and operational scaling
- CRM and production-management systems
- EOS or a comparable business operating system
- Residential replacement windows, doors, roofing, siding, or remodeling
How You Lead Matters
Technical and operational experience are important, but how you lead will matter just as much.
The right COO will:
- Listen carefully and take the time to learn the business before making major changes.
- Earn trust through sound decisions and consistent follow-through.
- Communicate clearly with employees, managers, customers, and executive leadership.
- Hold people accountable while treating them with respect.
- Be willing to get into the details when necessary.
- Develop managers who can take ownership rather than creating dependence on the COO.
- Make decisions based on facts, financial impact, customer experience, and long-term business health.
- Create clarity when priorities compete and help the organization focus on what matters most.
What Success Looks Like in the First Year
First 90 Days: Understand, Assess & Prioritize
During the first 90 days, we expect the COO to:
- Develop a clear understanding of the business, people, workflows, systems, capacity, and financial performance.
- Assess the Operations team and organizational structure.
- Establish reliable operational and financial baselines.
- Identify the most significant constraints and opportunities.
- Develop and agree on a focused improvement plan with the CEO.

- Stronger management capability and accountability.
- More useful operational reporting and KPIs.
- A capacity plan that supports the company's next stage of growth.
- Sustainable processes and systems that can scale with the business.
Specific performance targets will be established using reliable baseline information and agreed-upon business priorities.
Compensation & Benefits
- $140,000–$190,000 annual base salary, based on relevant experience and demonstrated results.
- Target annual performance bonus of 20%–25% of base salary, based on agreed company and Operations performance goals.
- 401(k) matching.
- Health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- Paid time off.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-person executive position based in Export, Pennsylvania, with regular presence in our office, warehouse, and job sites throughout our service area.
You will work directly with the CEO, contribute to company strategy, and have a significant role in shaping the team, systems, and operation behind an established family business.
