Behavioral Health Project Specialist in Madison, Wisconsin at MetaStar, Inc

JOB SUMMARY

1. Location: Onsite at Madison, WI office, hybrid or remote (must reside within state of WI)
2. Reports directly to: Healthcare Transformation Program Manager
3. Direct reports to this position include: None
4. Other individuals or MetaStar staff with whom the person works on a regular basis:

• Vice President and Program Managers in Healthcare Transformation
• Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers in MetaStar departments
• Senior Administrative Assistant
• Project Specialists
• Healthcare teams in behavioral health settings of care
• Relevant stakeholders throughout Wisconsin

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support implementation of behavioral health, workforce development and healthcare transformation activities.
• Coordinate project activities, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Assist with development and execution of project work plans.
• Recruit participating organizations, providers, and program participants.
• Maintain ongoing communication with healthcare partners.
• Facilitate partner engagement and ensure follow-through on project commitments.
• Provide technical assistance to participating organizations.
• Assist behavioral health organizations in adopting evidence-based interventions.
• Support continuous quality improvement activities and performance monitoring.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS, ETC.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Nursing, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2-5 years’ experience working with behavioral health substance use disorders
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in place of the requirements above.
• Experience designing and delivering evidence-based substance use prevention programs to youth and adults.
• Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects and working with healthcare organizations, providers, or community-based organizations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Experience supporting grant-funded initiatives, contracts, or program implementation.
• Experience organizing meetings, trainings, learning collaboratives, or stakeholder engagement activities.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with healthcare partners
• Understanding of behavioral health systems, substance use disorder services, recovery support services, mental health programs, or healthcare delivery systems.
• Knowledge of quality improvement principles and performance measurement.
• Understanding of data collection, surveys, and program evaluation methods.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong facilitation and meeting coordination skills.
• Valid driver’s license or other reliable means of transportation to complete required travel
• Ability and willingness to travel within Wisconsin and occasionally overnight (up to 15 percent)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH), Social Work (MSW), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
• Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean/Six Sigma, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or similar credentials.
• Experience with federal or state grants, including HRSA, SAMHSA, CMS, CDC, or state-funded programs.
• Experience using AI tools such as MS Copilot
• Certification as a preventionist.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI.
• Experience working with rural health providers and community coalitions.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Physical Effort: Ability to sit or stand for five-to-eight hours per day (depending on scheduled FTE); occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds.
