About Wow Toyota of Wallingford

Toyota of Wallingford is an equal opportunity employer with a diverse staff of qualified individuals. We are not your typical "car dealership". Our motto is that we sell cars and have fun while doing it and we aim to provide the wow factor during every interaction. We take pride in our commitment to our employees, with many of them having made this their career for more than 20 years. We are always striving to grow and value the unique contribution that each of our teammates brings to the company.

We offer a variety of benefits including: paid holidays; generous sick and vacation policies; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401K programs with employer match; paid training; opportunities for growth; and employee recognition/celebrations!

About The Role

As a Product Specialist in our Sales department, you will be the primary point of contact for customers exploring and purchasing vehicles, with a strong focus on Toyota models. In this hourly, full-time role, you will combine your vehicle expertise and sales skills to guide customers through the entire buying journey—from initial inquiry to final purchase and follow-up. This is an exempt, commission-based position with a guaranteed daily per diem and monthly bonuses tied to sales productivity, offering strong earning potential for high performers. You will work closely with the broader sales team to meet individual and dealership sales goals while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

What You'll Do

  • Engage with walk-in, phone, and online customers to understand their needs, preferences, and budget, and recommend appropriate vehicles (with an emphasis on Toyota models).
  • Present and demonstrate vehicle features, capabilities, and benefits through test drives, walk-arounds, and product presentations.
  • Educate customers on model differences, trim levels, options, warranty coverage, and financing or leasing alternatives.
  • Manage the full sales process from lead qualification and vehicle selection through negotiation, closing, and delivery.
  • Use customer management (CRM) software to track leads, log interactions, and maintain accurate, up-to-date customer records.
  • Follow up with prospects and existing customers to nurture relationships, encourage repeat business, and generate referrals.
  • Collaborate with other members of the sales and finance teams to ensure a smooth and transparent purchase experience.
  • Stay current on product knowledge, including new models, features, incentives, and competitive offerings, especially within the Toyota lineup.
  • Meet and exceed individual sales targets and contribute to overall dealership sales goals.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment in the showroom and on the lot, ensuring vehicles are presented in an appealing manner.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience, ideally in automotive or a closely related retail sales environment.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicles, with a preference for candidates experienced specifically with Toyota models.
  • Hands-on experience using customer management (CRM) software to track leads, manage follow-ups, and document customer interactions.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a commission-based role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical features in clear, customer-friendly language.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven sales environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to conduct safe, informative test drives.
  • Professional demeanor, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in English, bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
