Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Technology & Afterschool Programs, the IT Support Specialist I/II at The Foundation for Hispanic Education (TFHE) serves as the primary technical support resource for all staff. This role involves installing and configuring software, hardware, printers, applications, and services, as well as developing protocols for the use of network resources across various departments and projects. The IT Support Specialist I/II supports and trains personnel responsible for system operations, providing guidance on the most suitable technology choices. Additionally, this position is responsible for evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining TFHE’s network infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and effective technical support to staff and students by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing computer hardware, software, printers, network connectivity, and other related technical issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computers, servers, peripherals, Chromebooks, and other technology equipment on TFHE campuses.
- Manage and configure Google Console Management Software, including managing phishing attacks targeting organization Gmail accounts.
- Meet and consult regularly with the Director of Technology & Afterschool Programs to determine objectives, functions, and priorities.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to network resources in compliance with TFHE policies.
- Monitor and maintain the network infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure connectivity across all TFHE campuses.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to support technology integration in classrooms and troubleshoot educational software issues.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of all technology assets, parts, and equipment; notify supervisors when supplies are low.
- Perform preventative maintenance on computers and related equipment to extend life expectancy.
- Maintain service records on assigned computers and peripheral devices.
- Assist staff and students in the use of technology tools, software applications, and best practices.
- Coordinate with the IT team and external vendors for escalated issues, equipment repairs, and technology upgrades.
- Provide on-site and remote support to all TFHE staff, faculty, and students as needed.
- Set up PA systems upon request by School Directors.
- Travel to the LVLA site or other campuses as needed or agreed upon.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current computer technologies, hardware, and software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field (required).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the setup and repair of networked computer workstations, software applications, online platforms, and advanced technical support.
- 3+ years of experience managing and administering PowerSchool Student Information System.
- 3+ years of experience working with computer/server hardware and software or in network design and architecture.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience, overseeing IT staff and departmental operations.
- Experience with databases, network administration (including wireless access points and firewalls), and G Suite for Education administration.
- Strong familiarity with typical school technology, including desktops, laptops, printers, interactive projectors, and software tools like Apple platforms, G Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), Microsoft Office Suite, web-based applications, licensing, and education databases.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- CompTIA A+, preferred
- CompTIA Network+, Google IT Support Professional, or similar certifications preferred
- Google Certified Educator Level 1 or 2 preferred
- Apple or Microsoft certifications are a plus
