Job Description

The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, repair, safety, and operational readiness of Fresquez Companies' restaurant, office, and facility locations.

This position provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance team and coordinates internal resources, contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure facilities, equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other building systems are properly maintained and operating efficiently.

This is a hands-on, working-manager position that requires actively working alongside the Maintenance team to complete maintenance tasks, repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, and facility projects. The position is not limited to supervising, delegating, or coordinating work. The manager is expected to participate directly in daily maintenance operations, provide support in the field, troubleshoot issues, and work collaboratively with team members to ensure all assigned tasks are completed fully, correctly, safely, and within established deadlines.

The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining preventive maintenance programs, responding to emergency repairs, prioritizing work orders, managing maintenance projects, monitoring expenses and budgets, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations.

The manager is accountable for both team performance and the quality and completeness of all maintenance work. This includes following up on outstanding work orders, inspecting completed repairs, identifying deficiencies, and ensuring any incomplete or unsatisfactory work is corrected promptly.

This position requires a highly organized, hands-on, self-motivated leader who can balance direct maintenance work with supervisory responsibilities while managing multiple locations, changing priorities, emergency situations, vendors, and maintenance projects. The manager must maintain strong communication with Restaurant Managers, Operations leadership, Administrative Management, and the Maintenance team.

The Maintenance & Facilities Manager must also be proficient in the technology and systems used to support facilities, security, work orders, communication, and business operations, including ECO Trak, Savi camera software, and the Microsoft 365 Suite.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all maintenance and facility operations for Fresquez Companies' restaurant, office, and other assigned locations.
  • Work directly alongside Maintenance team members to complete repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, installations, troubleshooting, and other assigned facility tasks.
  • Maintain an active, hands-on role in daily maintenance operations while balancing leadership, administrative, and project management responsibilities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs for equipment, buildings, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other facility systems.
  • Coordinate and prioritize preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, equipment repairs, replacements, installations, and facility projects.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and identify maintenance needs before they become larger operational issues.
  • Ensure all equipment, facilities, tools, and work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, orderly, and operational condition.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations and coordinate appropriate resources to minimize operational downtime.
  • Ensure maintenance requests and work orders are properly documented, prioritized, assigned, completed, and closed out.
  • Follow up on assigned work orders and maintenance projects to verify that all tasks are completed fully and correctly, rather than considering work complete simply because it has been started or assigned.
  • Inspect completed work, identify deficiencies, and ensure corrections are made before the task is considered complete.
  • Review completed work to ensure it meets company standards and specifications.
  • Assist with restaurant openings, remodels, special projects, equipment transfers, moves, installations, and disposals.
  • Coordinate furniture and equipment moves and other facility-related projects as needed.

  • Hold team members accountable for following company policies, safety procedures, maintenance standards, and assigned priorities.
  • Foster a professional, respectful, collaborative, and service-oriented team environment.
  • Lead by example through direct participation in maintenance work, demonstrating urgency, accountability, teamwork, safety, and quality workmanship.
  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance team to ensure assignments are completed from beginning to end, including necessary testing, cleanup, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Monitor progress throughout the workday, identify obstacles or delays, and provide hands-on assistance to keep projects and maintenance tasks moving toward completion.
  • Ensure work is not left unfinished, improperly repaired, or inadequately documented without a clear plan and timeline for resolution.
  • Balance delegation with direct involvement, ensuring the manager remains actively engaged in the work necessary to maintain company facilities and equipment.

  • Maintain working knowledge and proficiency in ECO Trak and utilize the system to manage, track, prioritize, document, and monitor maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Maintain user access to ECO Trak.

  • Monitor outstanding work orders and follow up to ensure timely completion.
  • Utilize maintenance data and reporting to identify recurring issues, maintenance trends, equipment concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, preventive maintenance, vendor work, and equipment history.
  • Verify that work orders accurately reflect the work performed, any outstanding issues, materials needed, and the final status of the repair before closure.
  • Use ECO Trak to maintain accountability for assigned work and ensure incomplete tasks remain visible and are followed through to resolution.

Security & Camera Systems

  • Maintain working knowledge and proficiency in Savi camera software.
  • Maintain user access to Savi.
  • Utilize Savi to review and monitor camera footage when requested or when necessary to investigate facility, security, safety, equipment, or operational concerns.

  • Follow company policies, procedures, safety requirements, food safety practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding company information, security systems, employee information, and business operations.
