Job Description
The Facility Services Associate maintains Abzena's non-classified offices, conference rooms, common areas, restrooms, corridors, break areas, warehouse support areas, and other assigned facility spaces. The role performs general cleaning, housekeeping, consumable replenishment, waste handling, and facility-readiness activities to maintain a safe, organized, professional, and inspection-ready workplace.
The associate works as part of the GMP Facility Services Team and coordinates with Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Materials Management, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, and other site functions. This team member is required to assist in manufacturing and warehouse spaces as needed after receiving the training and authorization required for each task and area.
· Clean and maintain assigned non-classified offices, conference rooms, common areas, restrooms, corridors, break areas, entrances, and support spaces according to approved schedules and standards.
· Perform routine dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, surface cleaning, spot cleaning, floor care, restroom sanitation, and consumable replenishment.
· Collect, segregate, transport, and dispose of general waste and recycling in accordance with site procedures and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
· Maintain janitorial closets, carts, cleaning tools, and supply storage areas in a clean, orderly, labeled, and inspection-ready condition.
· Use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment safely and in accordance with labels, safety data sheets, approved instructions, and required PPE.
· Monitor inventory of paper products, soap, waste liners, cleaning supplies, and other assigned consumables and communicate replenishment needs before shortages occur.
· Inspect assigned spaces and promptly report spills, leaks, damage, pest activity, safety hazards, blocked access, supply shortages, or other abnormal conditions.
· Complete required checklists, logs, and service records accurately and on time.
· Support site events, audit preparation, shutdowns, emergency cleanup, room resets, and special facility-readiness activities as assigned.
· Coordinate work to avoid disruption to meetings, laboratory activities, manufacturing operations, warehouse movements, and other critical site activities.
· Provide trained and authorized support in manufacturing areas as needed, including housekeeping, room setup and turnover support, supply replenishment, waste removal, equipment exterior cleaning, and 5S activities.
· Provide trained and authorized support in warehouse spaces as needed, including housekeeping, material staging or movement, supply organization, waste removal, inventory support, and 5S activities.
· Follow all applicable access, gowning, PPE, material-status, segregation, chain-of-custody, safety, and contamination-control requirements when entering or supporting manufacturing and warehouse spaces.
· Do not perform classified-area GMP cleaning or handle GMP materials independently unless specifically trained, qualified, and authorized for the task.
· Stop work and escalate any condition that may compromise employee safety, product quality, material status, data integrity, or contamination control.
· Perform other duties consistent with the role and business needs as assigned by Abzena management.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to work in office, GMP manufacturing, cleanroom, warehouse, utility, and general facility environments.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleanroom gowning for extended periods.
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive cleaning motions.
· Ability to safely use ladders, carts, mops, vacuums, floor-care equipment, and other approved cleaning tools as required by the role.
· Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Ability to work assigned shifts and occasional weekends, holidays, off-shift hours, or extended hours based on manufacturing and site needs
· High School diploma or GED preferred.
· At least 1 year of experience in custodial services, commercial cleaning, facilities services, manufacturing support, warehouse operations, or a related environment preferred.
· Experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical-device, food, or other regulated environment preferred.
· Ability to read, understand, and consistently follow written procedures, schedules, product labels, safety data sheets, and work instructions.
· Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, chemical safety, waste handling, PPE, and safe operation of custodial tools and equipment.
· Strong attention to detail, reliability, organization, and willingness to report abnormal conditions promptly.
· Ability to communicate clearly and work respectfully with employees, contractors, clients, and cross-functional site teams.
· Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic training and service records used by Abzena.
