Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Marketing Events Coordinator is responsible for leading, planning, and implementing fun and engaging events and other specified activities at the Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM). The Marketing Events Coordinator works with marketing, special events, the Terrace Café, building & grounds, learning & interpretation, philanthropy departments, and external vendors.
The position is Monday-Friday and a combination of business and evening hours, mostly Thursday evenings and Friday evenings for Art After Dark.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, duties include but are not limited to:
- Lead Art After Dark, CAM’s monthly final Friday event, which occurs 10x/year (paused in November and December). Must be onsite during event set up, duration, and tear down.
- Chair the interdepartmental Art After Dark committee, delegating various tasks but ultimately assuming responsibility for the events.
- Create, lead, and implement NEW programming for CAM’s extended Thursday evening hours. At times, coordinate and work in conjunction with other departments, such as the café, on concurrent programs. Must be onsite during event duration.
- Help build, lead and implement CAM’s holiday program with support from interdepartmental holiday committee.
- Work alongside marketing department to plan, implement, and work at occasional events hosted by the department, such as media previews, and those produced in partnership with outside partners.
- Coordinate staff resources to support events, including but not limited to internal hospitality team.
- Work closely with colleagues in the marketing and design & dissemination departments to ensure events are properly promoted to the public.
- At times, assist onsite with marketing department’s photo- and video shoots.
- Develop attendance goals for events and develop strategies to meet them.
- Manage budgets and ensure sound financial conditions of programs under your purview.
- Deliver post-event reporting.
- Must be available to work evening hours, as described above.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education and experience equivalent to bachelor’s degree required with at least 2 years’ experience.
- Nonprofit experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven success planning and implementing events.
- Excellent communication and people skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that values people who work well within a team as well as independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to organize/prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and shift priorities.
- Ability to take initiative, think strategically and creatively.
- Creative problem–solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot/respond quickly in demanding situations.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with museum colleagues and external vendors.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and various software programs.
- Ability to lift materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
