Job Description

The Compliance Supervisor oversees regulatory, environmental, and transportation compliance for our chemical blending and manufacturing opertions across two facilities located in Elliston, VA and Morgantown, PA. This position reports directly to the General Manager and can be based out of either facility. This requires approximately 10% travel to spend at least 2 days per month at ht alternate site. The company covers all travel expenses. This role ensure sboth plants meet all federal, state (VADEQ, PADEP), and local requirements while managing safety data sheets, contractor validation, and logistics safety programs. This position is supported by a third-party firm to assist with internal audits and regulatory compliance education and training resources.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
  • Travel: 10% travel required; 100% of travel expenses are company paid

Key Responsibilities

Environmental & Water Compliance

  • Oversee wastewater (WWT): Manage Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMR) and required sampling schedules.
  • Coordinate PFAS sampling: Execute required testing and file mandatory quarterly reports.
  • Maintain well water systems: Track compliance, usage metrics, and specialty permit management
  • Execute Permit renewals: Ensure all environmental and operational facility permits remain current.

Regulatory & Chemical Reporting

  • Submit regulatory reports: Complete all Tier II, SARA 313 (TRI), and RCRA hazardous waste reporting, including episodic reporting as needed
  • Author SDS & Labeling: Create and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) fro new chemical formulations and ensure compliant GHS labels are deployed
  • Secure pesticide licenses: Obtain and matinain structural pesticide licenses, as applicable. Maintain existing primary EPA/state biocide registration(s), custome supplemental biocide registration(s), and new EPA/state biocide registrations.
  • Track employee certifications and training records
  • Coordinate toxicity testing for new or existing products for addition to SDS and support customer NPDES and SPEDS permit applications
  • Maintain ESG tracker: Collect data and update metrics for corporate sustainability reporting

Transportation & Logistics Safety (DOT/FMCSA)

  • Oversee driver files, UCR registration, and the FMCSA drug/alcohol clearinghouse
  • Register HazMat: Keep Department of Transportation hazardous materials registrations active across both sites
  • Track feel metrics: Compile and submit quarterly mileage reports for the vehicle leasing company

Customer & Vendor Relations

  • Deliver client metrics: Issue monthly environmental data and technical analytical report reviews
  • Complete EHS deliverables: Formulate timely responses to customer-requstd Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance questionnaires
  • Manage contractor portals: Review and approve third-party vendor credentials in corporate compoliance databases

Quality Standards

Support ISO programs: Participate actively in internal audits and maintenance programs for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field is desired; an equivalent combinatoin fo work experience and active industry certifications will be considered
  • Certifications: Registered Environmental Manager (REM) credential is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of environmental compliance experience within a chemical blending, compounding, or manufacturing environment
  • Portals: Direct experience managing contractor prequalificiation platforms like ISNetworld (ISN) or Avetta is highly preferred
  • Knowledge: Deep familiarity with EPA (RCRA, SARA Tier II/313), DOT, FMCSA, VADEQ, and PADEP regulations
  • Skills: Proficient in SDS authoring software, GHS labeling guidelines, and regulatory portal navigation.
  • Travel flexibility: Ability to travel to the secondary site for a minimum of 2 days per month
